I was making pretty good weight loss progress. Organic food, recumbent biking and calorie counting was really working well. I then discovered I was pregnant. (6 months ago) I'm keeping my weight gain to around 2 lbs a month (I'm a big woman.-currently 243ish 5ft 8) Basically, after my c-section heals I plan on picking back up on exercise. I will breast feed so I don't want to eat under calories. I want to loose weight and tone up but I don't want too many toxins loose from fat loss. I wanted to know any moms experiences after having kiddos. Starting out routines, how'd it affect breast feeding(if at all). Anyone have issues with exercise after a second Cesarian? Stuff like that. I thought if I had to I could just wait until after I ween the little guy and then just get back to it. However I feel like I'm already chomping at the bit as aside from being uncomfortably pregnant, the fat doesn't help my mobility. My hips hurt and wake me up at night at this weight even aside from the pregnancy which makes it a bit more unpleasant.
Anyway, any tips, tricks or advise is appreciated.

Hi there,
I'm currently pregnant with my second child as well. My first was a c-section and this one probably will be too. As long as you wait a good two months at least before attempting any exercise you should be fine doing what you had been before you got pregnant. My favorite is the elliptical trainer! Just don't overdo it with any exercise as it can affect your milk supply. I ate plenty and kept the exercise to about 30 min when I kicked it up to and hour I seemed to have issues with low milk. Good luck recovering and with your little one!0 -
Can you do some prenatal yoga while you're still pregnant (dvd's)? And walk? Those helped me feel better while I was pregnant. I breastfeed and would walk and jog with the kids in a double BOB. I really love that stroller and you can use an infant car seat so you can start as soon as your c-section heals. Occasional jogging/running didn't affect my milk supply at all but everyone's different.0

I had a C section just over a year ago now. I can't speak for milk supply as my son never attached properly so was on formula after 5-6 weeks, but found walking to be a godsend. I was doing a lot of it while I was pregnant, and continued after the birth. I was back on my feet and walking a k or so around the hospital as soon as the epidural wore off. I was told by my obstetrician walking is ok, and recommended as soon as you are comfortable to do so. I took my maternity leave as an opportunity to walk everywhere with my son. The fresh air and vitamin D from the sun (I always made sure he was protected from it though) was good for him, and it allowed me to have a 'kick start' to get back in to exercise as soon as I got the 6 week ok from the obstetrician.
I would suggest chatting to your doctor to see what your body can handle though, as everyone is different and nothing beats professional advice.0 -
Congratulations! It's definitely something that's very different for everyone, but I always like to share my experience because I expected nursing would help me lose like crazy and it didn't at all. I was one of the unlucky ones who had a hard time losing while nursing and had issues producing when dieting and working out. I compromised and worked out while eating a lot more than I normally would and I lost some, but very slowly. I was nursing my first when I got pregnant with my second and then nursed him over a year so it was a loooooong time, but he weaned in May and by the end of the year I was back to pre-kid weight after 4 years of struggling to lose baby weight!0

Thanks everyone for sharing with me!
Great advise too!
I'm a bit concerned about toxin release when burning fat and ending up in breast milk. Any thoughts on that?
WildKatMom- Congrats on the hard work and weight loss! 4 years is a long time to struggle for sure!
NicoleIsBack- My first one and I couldn't work out latching either. She had to be on formula pretty early too. I'm hoping this time will be different.
Sistrsprkl- I walk a bit, and pretty slowly. I get exhausted pretty easily. It took me 45mins to walk out of Macy's one day after I had browsed and shopped an hour. With my first pregnancy I couldn't do a thing without almost fainting. I had to use motorized carts at the store, it was embarrassing but necessary. This pregnancy is much better as I am able to get water and food everyday and I have temp. regulation. I take New Chapter pre-natal vitamins and they REALLY help. If I forget to take them, I can tell later in the day.
Wecarlstrom- I LOVE elliptical trainers! They are my fave. I have a recumbent bike in our apt now, when we get a bigger place I'd love to get an elliptical to go with it. I love doing HIT on those.0
