Almost three months and no weight loss.

Hey, all. It's been almost three months of a roughly 1600 calorie a day diet and the weight isn't budging. I started off a little iffy, but the last month has been a pretty good effort at being at or below my recommended daily intake. I'm trying to get into a groove that will be a life-long practice, not an extremist diet, so I'm making an effort to eat foods I enjoy, though in smaller portions. Suggestions like "cut out all carbs" or "never eat dessert again" seem like a plan that's destined to fail (for me). I know there is no easy path to being fit, but I want to make sure it's a path I can stay on and enjoy.

I'm also trying to incorporate more fruits and veggies into my daily eating habits to replace the carb-heavy diet I experienced when I was overseas for two years. My first year abroad I dropped almost 40lbs but since then the weight has been around 190 no matter if I'm eating french fries most days or eating a more balanced diet. It's, to say the least, very frustrating. Any suggestions? I am lucky that I don't need to lose weight for health reasons and recent blood tests have come back with great results. But, like most people, I do want to look like the best me.

More info:

-Right now I'm nursing two injuries (wrist and upper hamstring) that are preventing me from doing running or yoga/push up/things hard on wrists, but I'm trying to do more walking.

-I'm 24 and 5'8" and currently 192/size 12 US

Please let me know if you know small changes that work for you. I'm hoping my moving soon will allow me to walk almost an hour a day to work and back, and that will have some sort of impact on my weight.

  • Are you exact with what you log? As in you measure very single piece of food on a scale? Do you count your macros?
  • At first I was much more lax, but the past several weeks especially I've been trying to hit or exceed all the major vitamins and keep the carbs/proteins/fat in proper proportions. I'm afraid I'm preeeeetty poor at the moment, so no food scale. I do use cups and exact serving sizes according to packages as much as possible, though. There of course is always room for user error, but I've been trying especially hard the last month or so to get the exact numbers into the log. (No way I'm going to lose any if I'm lying to myself!)
