30 pounds in 6 months!

I've been using this MFP off and on, and I can finally say that I am determined to use it everyday. I recently gained 20 lbs due to emotional eating (my father passed away). I really want to get this 20 lbs off, and lose an extra 10 so that I am happy with myself again.
My goal is to lose 30 lbs by June. Does anyone else have this goal? What is your plan?
I plan on eating 1200 a day, as well as making sure to exercise daily! As of right now my exercise plan is:
Sunday- Jillian Michaels Banish Fat Boost Metabolism
Monday-Jillian Michaels Banish Fat Boost Metabolism
Tuesday-Jillian Michaels Banish Fat Boost Metabolism
Wednesday-Jillian Michaels Banish Fat Boost Metabolism OR 45 minute elliptical
Thursday-45 minute elliptical, 15 minute bike
Friday- 35 minute treadmill
Saturday- 30 minute treadmill OR 45 minute elliptical
I plan on starting out with a lot of cardio, and after 2 weeks I may add Jillian Michaels Ripped In 30 to work in some strength training! After a few weeks, I also plan on incorporating a rest day. Does this look okay?
I always start a new diet, or exercise regimen and end up failing. Hopefully posting this here will give me some incentive.
Starting Weight- 165
Current Weight- 159
Goal weight- 130
Height- 5'5"

You're setting yourself up for a very tough time if you're limiting yourself to only 1200 calories while engaging in daily exercise. We're around the same age, I can sit around all day eat 1500 calories and lose weight, you can and should eat more food, especially when you're exercising. Give yourself a rest day from the exercise right away, it'll give you both a physical and mental break. I would also give up the deadline. What happens if you don't meet your goal by that time, will you just give up? Have a weight loss goal, but not a deadline.
Read this regarding the 1200 calorie intake http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/908271-when-is-1200-calories-appropriate-hint-almost-never
Keep using MFP, get a digital food scale, accurately weigh everything and you will see results.0 -
Hi! I also really want to lose 30lbs by June! I'm currently 148lbs and would like to be around 120lbs. I know people say don't have a deadline and I get that but I find that it gives me a reason to be motivated! Also I think for both of us 30lbs in about 6 months is definitely do-able! Right now my cardio is kind of sporadic. I run or bike everyday from either 30-60 min. I do strength training as well in the gym. I was also (lke you're doing) thinking about doing some sort of cardio exercise video along with my other activities. Do you like Jillian's Banish Fat Boost Metabolism? I just started her 30 day shred and it seems good. But unfortunately it only has 3 discs so I think it will get monotonous after a while
I also am really thinking about investing in insanity. But I have to admit I'm kind of scared haha. Have you heard anything about it? Or do you find Jillian's programs better? I am currently eating 1400 cals. Still trying to figure out my calorie intake though
a lot of guess and check unfortunately. I also think you should take a rest day at least once a week. That's what I do and I find it really helps! Physically of course but really also mentally. I need that mental break once a week! On my rest days I find it nice to go for a 30 or 45 min walk!! It really helps loosen up my sore muscles from the past week. Also yogo is amazing!
hope I helped some? Good luck on your weight loss journey! Be patient! Also feel free to add me as a friend. We could keep each other accountable if you want!

I suspect you always fail because you set extremely aggressive goals. You are aiming for about 1.7lbs per week which is aggressive for someone with only 30 lbs. Ideally, you should aim for 1 lb per week (max) so you can get enough calories to fuel your workouts and help with muscle retention. On top of that, you are doing all cardio programs (all of JM is a cardio program even their weight training portion). So low calories + high cardio will lead to more muscle loss, which is something you want to prevent. Minimize muscle loss will lead to a leaner and tighter body. Muscle not only gives you a tight body, it also maintains your metabolic rate. So drop cardio down to 2 -3 days and do weight training programs the other 3. Also, fuel your body properly and concentrate on getting protein and fats (muscle retention and satiety) and do this right the first time.
If you only do 30 minute workouts for 6 days a week, set your calories to 1700 and macro's to 40% carbs, 30% protein and 30% fats. Also, make sure you have a food scale so you can be accurate. This will set you up long term success. There is NO reason to get all aggressive as it leads to binges0 -
First I'm very sorry about your father. I lost mine 12 years ago... I totally get it.
Second, you need to eat more! Your workouts won't be half as effective if you don't have the calories to sustain them. Set up a reasonable goal (1 lb a week is plenty). If you restrict yourself too much you'll be miserable and more likely to binge or give up.0 -
Sorry to hear about your dad.
I have the same goal exactly. I want to lose 25-30 lbs by June to reach my final goal)
I lost over 20 lbs last year and then got really sick and gave up ( like really sick, with chemo and hospital stays). I am doing IIFYM and have lost 2 lbs in a week already!
I was doing 1200 a day and it was just not working for me.
Calculated my TDEE and macronutrients and now im fuller, happier and losing!!! I am striving to do cardio 5 days a week and weight lifting 2-3 days a week.
Feel free to add me and we can share ideas and food trackinggood luck!!! Heres the link to the site i use (its 100% free)

Set realistic goals. Exercising 7 days a week.. all cardio.. while eating that small amount will probably lead to binge eating or cheating anyways.. the weight goal will be hard to meet as well.0
