Great job.
I just started my workout for my first 5K, do you have tips or suggestions?0 -
congrats to you and keep it up. I am not sure what my 5k time is but I dont think I am that fast yet. I did do my first half marathon about a month ago and pulled off a 9min 24sec pace for it.0

If you cant already run the whole 5K, start slowly increasing your distance (or time if that works better for your schedule). Once you get to 5K then you can think about speed. There are tons of training plans online, but make sure it is designed for your goal. For example, if your goal is to finish your training would be different then if you are hoping to win! Good luck! Cant wait to read how you are doing.0

Great job!! That is a wonderful time for your first race. I have been running on my own and I am like 44 min. I feel so slow. You are doing so well, keep up the great job!!0

Thanks guys - When the official results were posted I realized I was 8 seconds faster than I thought - 25:30
For those who care - I am #1 in 15th place, The ones running the 8k have numbers over 100 so they just put everyone in order of finish.

YAY way to goo!!! I did mine in 31 minutes and some seconds (I cant check it here at work for exact times :0(....) and I know my first mile was about a 9 minute mile which is fast for me...but the other two were in the 10 minute marks....BUT I finished 51st out of 115 people!!!! and I finished 3rd in my age group!!! soo I got an award...I was totally shocked and impressed with myself becuz I had not ran since I got engaged and was kind of nervous BUT now I am searching for my next 5K....im too nervous to move up to a longer run...what is your suggestion...I see you are now doing a 10K wow you are impressive!!!
WTG on your race!!! I will post pictures later when I have time!!!! )0 -
I plan on doing more 5s with the goal of doing the 10 in March.
My daughter's college roommate challenged me so I love a good challenge. She is faster than me now and almost 20 years younger but I am still trash talking her to keep me motivated0 -
I have another Turkey Trot planned for Saturday with my daughter. This one is a bit different. You run in teams, they tell you the race length at the start and you split it up between you. You estimate before starting what the combined time will be for you and your partner to run the distance given and closest to the estimate wins.
They say it is a way to have different people a way to "win"0 -
We won 2 turkeys
4 miles - Me 34:29, Her 38:06 - We estimated 36 and 400 -
Thats cool! I started the C25K but got waylaid... must pick it up again.0
-
WOW, that's awesome!! I can only do a 12min mile....if that! Congrats!0

Nice pictures, beautiful area, great run. I envy you for running with your daughter. My teenage daughters refuse to do sports other than surfing in facebook. :grumble:
My runs are also improving. I run a little faster every week and my average heart rate is about 138 now (down from almost 150 in October), so I take this as a good sign, but I do haven an annoying problem when I run. The sweat keeps pouring in my eyes and I can't keep it off. Does the baseball cap help? Running half-blind is a pain in the neck and I feel stupid to carry a towel with me0 -
I sweat horribly which is why I wear the baseball cap. It seems to help me.0

Way to go! I finished my first 5K on October 2nd, 2010 at my personal best of 27:34!0
-
That is the key. Strive for the PB time each time. You are not racing against the others. Race against yourself! (I need to take my own advise sometimes)0
