  • Just to be clear: you dont NEED to lose X pound in Y time. You WANT to. So do I. But I wont, because first, thats a crash diet and not particularly healthy. Second, the rebound from that is as likely to end with me being UP X pounds after Y time.

Slow and steady wins the race.

actually the problem with losing weight slowly, for me,is that i lose motivation at times and start to get frustrated and then i go back to my previous unhealthy routine :( ..i dont know y i do that..but toooo much slow weight loss make me discouraged...:(

It's simple. You don't want it bad enough. If you really want it you'll do what it takes to make it happen. Weight loss takes time, plus you want to keep it off the rest of your life right? That means learning how to fit it into your daily lifestyle. Not losing the weight until you get to your goal and then go back to what you were doing, which means it'll all be coming right back.

You may not be ready for this yet. You need to really decide what you want. If losing weight is it then you will do whatever it takes to lose it and what it takes is patience! Lots of patience.

So make a decision, go with it. If you're not ready, it's okay.

I wouldn't count on huge losses weekly. Possibly the first week with the initial drop in water you might see your desired result, but at 5'7 and 158 you're technically within a healthy weight range for your height. I have a feeling that's going to make the going much slower regardless.

You're my height and my goal weigh is 160 which is top end of healthy weight for our height, im currently losing 1-1.5 a week but thats because ive still got 50lbs to go, the closer to that its going to slow done alot. So based off my own experince at the same height, is it possible? no not a chance!

You and the rest of the world.

I get that we live in an "I have to have it now society" but our bodies weren't built that way so, if you want to be healthy, you are going to have to get real with yourself.

Weight loss is hard. I fall on and off the wagon, too. But, I can't think of anything more un-motivating than setting an unrealistic goal for myself and then beating myself up when I fail.

Do it the right way. Set attainable goals for yourself along the way so you can have reward mile markers for yourself if that is motivating to you.

    Yup.

right now i am 158 pounds and i want to be around 133 pounds with my height of 5'7...

This is exactly where I started a couple of weeks ago...I have tried to rush it in the past but it never stays off!! Trying to lose 30 lbs in two months is unrealistic and unhealthy.

please tell me how can i do that? 1200 calories day and 20 minutes of cardio..would that be enough? i want to speed up my weight loss..

A better approach would be this .... add strength training (and do less cardio).

Strength training will help you lose INCHES. You might not get to the number on the scale .... but inches are what people "see."

^^THIS. I originally lost 13 pounds eating healthy and walking a lot. Didn't SEE much of a difference, though. I started weight lifting in March and went down 2 sizes and people are noticing, although the scale didn't budge until 4 months later when I lost 3 more pounds.Take pictures and periodically try on clothing that was too small when you started. You'll see and feel differences regardless of the number on the scale.

Take measurements along the way ..... that may help with motivation.

Did it only take two months to gain those 30 lbs? I will guess not. It would be better to make small sustainable (lifelong) changes to your eating and exercise habits, and get your mind in a healthy space. The goal is to be healthier, not necessarily thinner (many thin people are not healthy). The reality is that treating your body, mind and spirit well for the rest of your life is challenging - what with those Golden Arches, and flashy baubles, and media telling us what we should look like and do and own - but you need to decide if you are ready to actively engage in your life. Invest the time and energy in yourself, you are worth it!

Don't be too restrictive and set smaller goals that are achievable like "I will try to lose 1.5 lbs this week" not 30 pounds in 2 months. You will stress yourself out and it won't be happy, healthy or sustainable.

Well, welcome to the weight loss game. I'm pretty sure the majority of the people on this website have dealt or are dealing with the exact same problem. You've got to find a way to change that discouragement to determination to succeed.

Learn to control your portions, track your calories and sodium, and exercise at least three times a week. If you've got an Xbox you can buy The Biggest Loser Ultimate Workout or Zumba if you don't have a gym membership or don't want to workout outside of your home. That's what I started with and lost about 25 lbs between the game and changing my diet.

At that size, if you ate literally nothing for the entire two months, you would just barely make your goal - assuming you don't die along the way.

The only vaguely plausible shot you have is to do a huge amount of exercise. Like 1500 calories/day level of huge.

IMO, setting a time frame to reach a number on the scale, especially such a short one, is setting yourself up for failure and disappointment. Instead, resolve to change your habits and celebrate any loss (wether in lbs or inches).

Is it possible... yes! But 30 pounds in 2 months is only possible for those who have an EXCESS amount of weight to lose. This goal is unrealistic for someone who is not obese.

I have lost 25 pounds in 2 months and it was very easy to do; however I'm 5'11 and my starting weight was 300 pounds! I'm looking to lose a total of 120 pounds.

Don't put that amount of pressure on yourself if you're aren't very heavy in weight. It just wont happen that fast for you.
