HRM and counting calorie burn after workout

Hi there, I have a Polar FT4 which I love, I was told by staff in my gym to keep my HRM on until my heart rate returns to normal after working out so for example, if I do a bodypump class, I might burn 354 cals for the hour class but by the time my heart rate is back to normal resting I could have burnt a total of 500 cals, which do I record?
Many thanks
Paula

No one has ever talked about the Polar FT4 here. Never!
I turn my off when I stop doing specific exercise related things. This morning I was doing some spinning and then walked back to my apt. and climbed the stairs. I included walking back since it was 150 when I went out the door. Once inside It was still at 128 bpm but I didn't think I should count making coffee and taking a shower as exercising. That's just part of my daily base calorie level even if my heart rate was still a little bit elevated.0
