Hello Everyone,
I have a StairMaster Spinner bike, when I input my weight, time, etc. it stated I burned 90 calories for the 20 minutes that I rode....when I go to input my exercise into myfitnesspal, it says I burned 212 - how can there be such a difference? I've had my bike for 10 years. What would you go by??
Thanks!
Mary Ann

I would believe the bike as it would take into account how fast and hard resistance you've been working at.
MFP stats on exercise is incorrect and frankly i don't believe them and don't know what it is based on to come up with such hopeful stats
Why not buy a pedometer and try that out?
Hope this helps0 -
Your really want a Heart Rate Monitor (HRM) if you want to track your calories more accurately.
There are tons of threads about different models and calculating your burns.0 -
Go by the lower #; you are less likely to overestimate/over eat cals this way. Believe me, all of the machines and MFP give me different #s. I just adjust the mins that I input into MFP, so that I get the lower #.0

MFP's numbers are often not accurate, because it's not there and can't measure the what you're doing. I'd go with the lowest number. I find that MFP's bike number are WAY higher than what my heart rate monitor says. You're better off inputting independently.0

Thanks everyone! My bike said I burned 90 calories, so there was quite a difference. I try not to eat the calories I burn during exercise unless I have a day where I am really hungry.
Thank you again for all of your replies

Go with the bike, it actually measures the work you're doing.0
