Doing it for my kids...

We all talk about getting healthy and being an inspiration for our children and I wanted to share an event that has happened for the last couple days.
I bought 30 Day Shred and my 1st one was defective and I had to return it. So when I got my replacement I turned it on just to make sure that it would work. While I was watching it my 12 year old joined me to watch Level 1. She was impressed at how intense it was and asked it I would wake her up the next morning when I was going to do my exercise (which is at 4:00 am). Now please realize my girls are like most tween/teens and could sleep forever!
The next morning I didn't wake her up and did day 1. Holy cow that wiped me out - I was left laying on the floor recovering for quite a while. Later that morning I got a text from Rachel (12 year old) asking why I didn't wake her up and asked me to make sure I did the next day. That night during dinner she reminded me to wake her up and was enthusiastically talking up the DVD to her 14 year old sister Rebecca. Well that led to Rebecca asking me to wake her up too.
I was rather surprised since neither of my girls are what you would call athletic, but I agreed to wake them up.
This morning I woke them both up as I was heading out to the living room to start the DVD. They both stumbled out and ended up doing the DVD with me. It was a lot of fun to work out with them and we spent time laughing at ourselves and each other. However, they also ended the workout on the floor recovering like I did the day before. (Today wasn't as bad for me).
The exciting part is that they both realize that they could benefit from doing the workout with me and asked me to make sure that I wake them up each morning.

awww how sweet, l don;t know your girls but l am guessing on this one, just a feeling l have. I think they know that working out seems to be very important to you and the girls seem to want to share this with you, and at the same time spend time with thier mother. Very touching story. Kids are great, they support their family without them even realizing what they are doing. They just know it feels good and they want to be a part of it.

That's awesome! Went to my actual first Zumba class in my area this morning (a friend is instructing and I've been practicing with her) and there was a lady that brought 2 young daughters and they had gone to the class last night too! Pretty impressive since it's at 5:30 AM and is $5 per person per class. Good for you for setting the example and for the girls for getting up that early to do it. I won't even get up at 4:00 to exercise!0

Bonnie that is SO COOL!! What a great bonding experience as well! I'm so proud of you for doing the 30day shred, too! And to have your daughters as a support team with you is so fun!! Thank you for sharing this touching moment!0

I've taken my two daughters (2years and 4 years) to my Zumba/Fuzion class!!! (she doesn't charge me for them) They loved dancing but didn't last the whole class (books and timbits took care of the boredom).
Now that they've been, they're super encouraging every time I go. No more whining that they don't want me to leave! My two year old says "Zumba makes Mommy happy".
I loved your story - can't wait until my girls are older and we can do stuff like that together!0 -
loved your story! I'm sure it will be a good memory for your kids when they become moms as well0
