Help with weight loss

Hi guys I had started in early December as 294 pounds and as of last week joined MFP. I'm confused, before I was eating and drinking pop and was loosing weight at least 2 pounds every other day. I have now gone down to 277.5 but went back up three days ago after my sons birthday to 278.5 and I have been stuck here for three days. I haven't been making 1,000 calories in the last couple of days but I have been eating three meals and a snack.
I have been drinking strictly water, no juice, and only eating protein and vegetables. I measure EVERYTHING and weigh all meat I consume I however don't log my water :blushing: But I at least drink 1.5 -2 liters
My question is why could I be stuck? I am starting to walk as of today, I'm recovering from a back and hip injury at work but I'm just going to pull through as I truly would do anything to get rid of this weight.
Help, please give me tips.

Are you weighing and measuring all of your food? If you open your diary it would be easier to give you tips!0

1000 might be a little to low for you. You should aim for at least 1200, and eat every 3 hours starting with a small item within 30 minutes of waking up. Any type of exercise that you can accomplish is very helpful, even standing and touching your knees then your feet is exercise if sitting you can do arm circles, whatever you can do to get your body moving. Stalling is part of living it happens to all of us. Just don't give up. Change your food and always give yourself pep talks. It helps! Good luck0

You were losing 2 lbs every other day? So you were losing 6-8 lbs per week? You should not expect that type of weight loss to continue, and I'm not sure it would be healthy if it did. I understand the desire for quick weight loss, but unless you've been directed to eat that low by a doctor I would suggest upping your calorie count and losing more slowly.
I would discuss your calorie needs with your doctor, especially since you are recoving from an injury. Not properly fueling your body could inhibit your recovery.0 -
Everything that goes in my body except water is measured / weighed. I was totally mortified what I thought a cup was and what a cup ACTUALLY is.0

Eat more, and have more patience.. how long did it take you to gain 300 lbs? Its not coming off overnight.. this isn't a tv show.. look at this thing as weekly or monthly weigh in's.. not daily.0

I agree with everyone above me and I'll add this: How long has it been since you last saw a loss? If it's only been a week or two that's perfectly normal and to be expected. Little stalls are usually just normal fluctuations you're going to see day to day and are usually nothing to be worried about. Double check that your logging is accurate, double check that your calorie goal is appropriate, and give your body a little more time to adjust.0

You're absolutely right, it took a while to get this big so I must get so i have to be patient. It's just scary to see the number not budge .5 even, I fell tons better eating healthy but it scares me to think it will always be this way.

This might sound harsh, but please know that it's not meant that way.
You have to get over the scale fluctuations. You just HAVE TO. The sooner you realize how much the body fluctuations, the happier you will be while trying to lose weight.
Also, you are eating too low. Probably way too low. It's exciting in the beginning to see pounds dropping off left and right, but it's not sustainable. Not at all. Can I ask...have you ever tried to lose weight in the past? Was that attempt successful? (Obviously not since you're here trying to lose weight.) Wouldn't you LOVE for this to be the last time you "attempt" to lose weight? If you want to be successful, you need to educate yourself (the forums are great for that, it's how I learned!) and make this sustainable. Seek advice from those with either large amounts of weight lost or those with 1000's of posts...not saying that everyone else is an idiot, but these people typically have had a lot of success and are willing to help others like yourself.0 -

I have done this twice once when I was a teenager it took me 8 months to loose 80 pounds in total and i lost 110 total and again when my son was a baby I lost almost 100 pounds , both times i did it the wrong way with only eating once a day and gained it all back +., So when I do eat three times a day and I don't see it budge I panic.
All of you are right, I need patients, I need to not give up and be determined or I'm always going to loose the weight the wrong way and be unhealthy. Right now I have the most energy I have had in months, so I have that going for me.0 -

Nutrient timing is irrelevant for weight loss. If eating 12 times a day works for you, that's great. If you only eat once per day, that's great too. So you don't necessarily have to change your eating schedule to lose weight, you simply need to eat less than you burn throughout the day (which is based off how many calories you use to live and go about your day, plus exercise. Don't fall into the trap of eating less than you exercise off...that is not what "calories in, calories out" means).
For perspective, you should only be aiming to lose 2 pounds a WEEK...not every other day. In the very beginning, it will come off faster as your glycogen stores are used and your body sheds the excess water weight...this process doesn't take very long. If you are still losing drastically after say, 2 weeks, you need to increase your calorie intake.0 -
Your are not eating enough. 1,000 calories is extremely low and your body is going into starvation mode. When your body goes into starvation mode it clinges onto your fat. Increase your calories - you should be consuming at least 1,400 calories a day.0

I would not go as low as 1000 cal. What does MFP suggest for your calorie intake? Make sure you weigh (a digital scale is your best friend) and log everything. As far as exercise goes, start small, you have been inactive for quite a while. Remember, it didn't pack on in a day, it won't come off that way either.0
