your tips for staying under calories?

i find that i get hungry alot so i've increased my water and protien, problem is the protien can be high in calories what are some tips to not be hungry and be low cal?

Cottage cheese is about 100 calories for 1/2 a cup and it jam packed with protein! Also bumblebee salmon (not tuna) is about 60 calories for a two ounce package and it is jam packed with protein as well. Both of those will keep me full for a few hours! Hope this helps!0

I plan what I eat for the day. I don't go off my plan much at all. Even if I know i'm eating out I go online (Thank GOD for the web) and I pull up calorie counts for menu items, And I keep healthy snacks around me. I notice I am able to eat alot more food when I make better choices.0

eat a lot of low fat dairy, which is pretty low in calories. Also, egg whites are great and chicken breast. If you keep the portion size to 6oz and watch the condiments, you can eat almost anything.
Fish is also great. I try to keep my servings under 8 oz. Meat is 4-5oz.
Try to eat a lot of vegetables with the protein. The combination of protein and fiber keep you full longer. Cauliflower, broccoli, asparagus, and sweet potato are great options.0 -
I would stay away from the protein shakes as they do tend to be high in calorie. Instead, try whole wheat crackers with peanut butter. 100 calorie bags of popcorn. vegetables or almonds. they tend to work for me. you could even do a half of turkey sandwich or something like that.0

My personal experience for staying under my calories: Drink LOTS of water. Definitely the recommended daily intake PLUS some. Do a big enough workout to leave you with extra calories. Eat them if you want to, or don't if you're not hungry. I LOVE to eat. I would rather workout than restrict my calories. You don't have to do a monstrosity of a workout. Just one that really gets your blood pumping. That'll leave you with quite a few calories to do whatever you please with!!
Also, the protein may be high in calories, but protein is GOOD for you, and it turn, those calories are good for you as well. Be aware of that. There are so many HEALTHY fats and proteins that are high in calories, but very good for your body!!0 -
EGG WHITES! One is 17 cals. When I just can't seem to feel full I hard boil 4-5 eggs and eat the whites. Definitely feel full after that!0

Be very careful with cottage cheese it is wonderful but high in sodium. I would try eating my protein instead of drinking it. Lots of yummy lean proteins out there, fish, eggs, chicken etc0 -
I never try and stay under my calories, I'm in no rush to lose weight.
Plus, I like food and eating, so going under never works for me.
I'd probably feel deprived and get way to side tracked.
I find that if I plan my days well, to include lots of fruit/veg, whole grains & lean proteins
I rarely feel like I could eat my arm off.0 -
Cottage cheese is great!! As is of course water, and tea, I find I'm not quite as hungry after I feel like I just ingested something sweet.0

Protein is no higher in calories than Carbohydrates. Roughly 4 calories per gram. Fat is high in calories, around 9 calories per gram. I'd recommend eating more complex carbohydrates, with a lot of fiber in them. The carbohydrate will digest slowly, giving you energy for hours, and the fiber gives you that satisfied filled-up feeling.0

I don't think going under the recommended daily calorie intake is a good idea. I think staying within 20-75 calories plus/minus is acceptable.
Exercise more, I like the egg-white suggestion, probably because I love egg whites.
Try eating every 3 hours too. It really helps me stay satisfied throughout the entire day. I also eat a myoplex carb control bar every day. Boost my protein without the sugar. I have it almost every night after dinner as a treat. LOVE that!!0 -
Exercise. When ever you exercise it not only gives you calories you can eat it also suppress your appetite so you don't feel like cheating anymore. A trick I found while watching TV is the do crunches, sit ups, or push ups during commercial breaks (not the whole break mind you). This also help distract me while those food commercials came on.0
