Question for ya ladies...anyone have a bad experience with Ortho Cyclen birth control? I recently switched from Ortho Cept to Ortho Cyclen, and I'm wondering if maybe some of my emotional episodes have something to do with the new BC? I mean..maybe things with hubby aren't as bad as I think they are? I've been reading some reviews on ortho cyclen and it seems alot of women have had some horrible mood swings on this pill. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

BTW- I've been taking it for 1 1/2 months

I was on it for 6 mo when I was first married (10 yrs ago). I don't remember mood swings, but my husband told me I was really bad. He's been against me being on any pill since then. So I haven't been on one since. Don't know if it was newlywed stuff or the pill. Cleared my skin though.

I am on Yasmin and it has helped mood swings and other issues.

I was on Ortho but had mood swings, depression, and hormone issues.

My sister deals with this. She gets endometriosis pretty badly, and they tried to control it with the pill. She had such terrible mood swings, big crying jags, moments where she wasn't thinking things clearly or rationally...so she no longer takes the pill. There are low dose pills such as Yaz that might be worth a look. Are you using it for birth control or hormones? If it's birth control, check out the Mirena procedure...I just had it done, and it was fast, easy, and 99.9% effective. It's reversible, too, if that is an issue. Try to recognize when you are all emotional. A diary would probably be a good idea...for you and the treating physician to understand what it is you are dealing with. Best of luck to you!

I had some trouble with spotting when I first started taking it, and I had to switch to Ortho Cyclen Lo, but I didn't notice any mood swings...although I don't have to put up with myself, so maybe I had horrible mood swings and no one ever told me...lol

Hmmm, well I'm going to stop taking the pill, and hope that helps things...worst case scenario it doesn't help right? I have been taking it to avoid pregnancy. My daughter (as most of you know) is 8 months old and I'm not quite ready for baby number 2 yet, especially with all the emotional drama I'm feeling. Anywho, your responses have been helpful, thankyou my wonderful confidants! :)
 Lauren (feeling much less hopeless)

everyone reacts differently to different birth control, and usually you can't really tell how it's affecting you until at least 3 months. I'd take it for another month and a half and see if it works out better for you

Everyone is different, the pill didn't work well for me but that has been 20 some years ago.I could never remember to take it:laugh: I had an IUD for 5 years and I liked it very well. To get pregnant with our dd took me a long time and my period was very punctual I used the basal temp method and after a couple of month I could tell when ovulation started, so I ran with that and 20 years later I'm still not pregnant:bigsmile:
