Here's a Biggest Loser challenge. Tonight while watching Biggest Loser, I am going to get up and do some sort of exercise during every commercial. Example: first commercial Jumping jacks, second commercial squats, third commercial sit ups, etc. Anyone want to join me??? Let me know if you're in then check back in after Biggest Loser and let me know what you did and how it made you feel.

I would, but we tape it. Maybe I will do that on the other shows I watch at the same time. :)

I'm in!! I watched last week's episode last night and when Bob said "I want you to do 25 squats and 25 push-ups before I see you again." I jumped up and started doing squats. It took me a bit longer to get through the 25 push-ups but I did it!

This is a great idea! We should keep it going every week.

I am in! I have often thought of doing some kind of exercise during commercials, just never did it. I will log it and check back after the show to report in! Thanks for the idea!

Here's a question.... are there any shows, Biggest Loser or other weight challenging shows, on Netflix? I find them motivating to watch, but I got rid of my satellite for Netflix.

I'm in - sorta. Everytime I watch BL I walk on my treadmill for atleast either the first, or second hour !!! so I'll be exercising during the show but not just at commercial breaks :)
    It's a great idea though.
  • Great idea! I'm in. I'll post again after the show. Have fun everyone.

Awesome challenge idea!! I am in! My 9 year old son decided to do push-ups on commercials last Saturday, he did 260 push-ups over the course of the movie we were watching on TV. He even had us tally them up to keep him honest! Maybe I will recruit him to watch over me tonight!

    Good luck everyone!!

Princess, I think there are older seasons available. As well as Biggest Loser videos.

Well, really bummed that Elizabeth didn't go home. I'm so over her whining. However, this is what I did during the commercials:

60 quad lifts w/5 lb weights, 20 butterfly lifts w/5 lb weights, 20 side leg lifts w/5 lb weights, 20 kick backs, 20 kick backs w/5 lb weights, 81 squats, 50 jumping jacks, 55 bicep curls w/5 lb weights, 11:33 minutes jogging in place, 20 overhead presses w/5 lb weights, 20 tricep extensions w/5 lb weights, 40 chest flies w/5 lb weights, 20 round house kicks, standing on left leg 1:33, standing on right leg 1:28, 20 calf raises (on the edge of a step) w/5 lb weights, 20 toe raises w/5 lb weights, 20 legs curls w/5 lb weights, 20 elbow to knee lifts w/5 lb weights.

AND...I feel really great. And really ready to go to bed LOL. Need to have a better plan for next week as you can see my family got creative with the standing on one leg thing, but it was hard!!! It made me appreciate the challenge they did tonight.
  • Here's my results. Sorry, didn't keep track of which commercial break I did what.

Arm curls w. 8 lb weight - 20 rep each arm
Arm raises above head (not sure what they are called) 5lb weights - 20 reps
Arm raises out to the side, 5 lb weights - 20 reps
    Jumping jacks - 50
    Crunches - 50
Oblique crunches - 50 each side
    Push ups - 20
Vacuumed living room & dining room
Punches (front) like turbo jam - entire commercial break
Punches (side/cross) - entire commercial break
Punches (elbow) - entire commercial break
Butterfly presses, 5 lb weights - 30 reps
Butt kicks - entire commercial break (180 kicks) I'll be sore tomorrow from this

I'm not sure if I got every commercial because I was doing laundry part of the time but I feel great. Wonderful challenge!

    Jumping Jacks - 150
    Crunches - 50
    Bicycle crunches - 70
    Squats - 60
    Push ups - 50
    Jump ropes - 100

Man I am so impressed with how much everyone did during the commercials! Wow you guys are inspiring!

I didn't see this post till now, but, I was motivated by show, so see if I could the 500 steps ups! DID IT!!!! I just used the bottome stair while I watched the show. I could sure feel the burn in the thighs!

    Wow! You guys worked it!

My commercial breaks went like this:

    1. 75 reverse crunches
    2. 75 vertical leg crunches
    3. 45 calf raises
    4. 100 crunches
    5. side plank - disaster!
    6. 60 bicep curl/60 tricep kickbacks
    7. 100 side lunges (50 per side)
    8. 36 chest presses/36 chest flies
    9. 27 overhead pullovers/25 shoulder presses
    10. stretches

It was tough, I think next week I will plan to have a set of two exercises per commercial, and alternate sets between the two.
We used the Biggest Loser Fitness book and planned our next commercial during the show. We switched halfway to alternating sets, and it was much better.

You're all so motivating! Now that we switched the netflix, we don't have commercials, but I could easily squeeze a workout in between episodes. I need to do something to get my butt off the couch, especially on days when I can't make it in to the gym.

I'll check out netflix to see if TBL is on there or other weight loss shows. Anyone have any other favorites?

Sorry I didn't get a chance to post until this morning. Doing this kicked my butt more than I thought it would.

    1. Sprints (from the front door to the bathroom lol)
    2. Bicep Curls w/10 lb weights (3 sets of 10, 3 sets of 6)
    3. Long Arm Crunch (2 sets of 25)
    4. Speed Skater Jumps (100 total)
    5. Walking Planks (4 sets of 10)
    6. Bicycle Crunches (6 sets of 12)
    7. Burpies (3 sets of 10)
    8. Chest Flys (3 sets of 12)
    9. Locust Pose Raises (4 set of 10)
    10. Jumping Jacks (3 sets of 25)

I took a lot of the exercises from the Jillian Michaels' Banish Fat Boost Metabolism DVD that I have. I didn't know what to call some of the exercises that I did so if anyone is curious let me know! Glad to see that it went well for everyone!

Well I just realized that my daughter has a basketball game tomorrow night so I'll be recording Biggest Loser. However, when I watch it I promise to exercise during the commercials not fast forward thru them.

I did about 20 mins worth of cardio during the last weeks show. I plan to do it again this week as well, if I can. My son has a bball game so that might make it difficult but I can always record it and do it when I play it back! Good challenge. I even challenged my friends from another thread to do this as well.

What I've been doing while watching it is walking in place while watching it. I used to do nothing but eat during it but now I actually do something productive. Great Idea to change it up though. I'll try that next Tuesday.

I might try walking in place. That sounds simple enough. Well, maybe marching instead... so I can get my knees higher. I guess we'll see on Tuesday lol.
