High protein macronutrient ratio

I just started really tracking my macro's and so far it looks like I'm on a 60% protein, 25% carb, 15% fat diet.

I just feel like I'm eating efficiently and healthy. I am eating a calorie deficit and with this ratio I see no setbacks at the gym and feel fine. I'm looking to maintain/maybe even possibly make some gains while also reducing some fat around my abdomen.

I go to bed a little hungry but that's a calorie deficit for ya.

I have looked far and wide for someone using such a high protein % like me but I can't find anything. My question would be: How does this ratio work and why can I find no one else that does the same?

I'm 6'4ish and 196lbs. Just lookin to get a lean/cut look for spring break while keeping the muscle I have.

Is that something you worked out, or just what it works out to when you track ?
Perhaps try iifym.com to work out a better ratio?

Personally, I'd lower the protein and increase fat and/or carbs. You probably don't need that much protein and may be better off health wise getting calories from other macros.
  • What it works out to when I track. I try and eat my body weight in grams of protein. The day isnt over yet so i'll update the final percent when Its over. I'm at 48% protein, 39% carbs and 13% fat before dinner.
  • A typical day and I end with 50% protein, 39% carbs, 11% fat.

    Good, bad, pros, cons?

right now on a normal day I break down my 2300 cals to about 325g protein, 150g carbs and 35g fat which is pretty close to what you do. It works pretty well. I do like a healthy balance of fats so on non workout days twice a week I fat load and go to about 120g of fat and drop protein and carbs. once a week i go to about 400g of carbs.

You go way overboard on protein. There's absolutely no reason to go that high.

I would definitely drop protein and raise carbs and fats.

You won't lost fat around your abdomen until your body decides it's time for that. You drop fat all around at random. You can't control it.
