Sultanas, Raisins and Currents

What is the difference???

I was curious so did some research online and came up with all sorts of answers, including

1. Sultana comes from white grapes
Raisin comes from red grapes

2. Both white grapes, but a sultanas are seedless, i.e. they are seedless raisins

3. Sultanas are bigger and juicier than raisins

4. They are the same, but sultanas are dried with vegetable oil whilst raisins are dried naturally

Okay I'M SO CONFUSED!!

Each of them is a dried form of same name fruit. So saltana is a dried sultana grape, raisin is a dried raisin grape and a currant is a dried currant. They should not have oil. And they are all yummy.

This is the answer from Kew Gardens Botanical site

Raisins are dried white grapes usually of the variety 'Muscatel'. The main producers are the USA, Turkey, Greece and Australia.

Sultanas are small raisins. They are seedless, sweet, pale golden in colour and come mainly from Turkey.

Currants are dried, black, seedless grapes originally produced in Greece. They were known as 'raisins of the sun'.
