1 Cup of Coffee

Hello,

If I am trying to lose weight and only drink one cup of coffee with cream and sweetener, will that be bad for my diet?

Nope log the cream and sweetener. I drink about 2 pots of coffee a day.

Not at all, coffee I find is important for me when it comes to weight loss. Just make sure the sugar and cream are within your goal limits and you are fine. I usually drink my coffee black or with a little bit of a cream so the best thing you could do it keep cutting the amount of additives to it, say half cream half sugar, then maybe eventually black if it is good coffee haha.

Nope, as long as it fits into your daily calorie allotment and you accurately log you'll be fine. I personally take my coffee brewed (2calories), with Truvia (0 calories), and 2tbsp of Coffeemate Sugar Free French Vanilla Creamer (30calories). Good luck!

No, coffee is actually good for your body.

Cream and sugar are fine. Just make sure you track the calories in each. Real sugar is easy to get high calories on, so be careful. I stick with Splenda (I don't care how bad it is for you)

If it fits into your calorie goals and you like it, it's good for your diet.

If it doesn't fit into your calorie goals, it's bad for your diet. You can either reduce your cream and/or sweetener, drink it black, or go without.

If it doesn't fit into your calorie goals but you remove something else so it can fit, it's good for your diet again.

If it's a standard cup of coffee with cream & sugar, no worries. If it's an extra Large Dunkin' Donuts coffee, you might want to adjust the habit. ;-)

Just be aware of how much cream & sugar you use, and log it. If you always make/have it the same way, create a recipe & log it from that so you don't have to log multiple foods every time.

No, coffee makes you poop. Pooping is good, therefore coffee is good.

Nope. That's the one thing I absolutely will not give up. I HAVE to have my coffee with cream and real sugar in the morning. If I don't have that, I really will feel deprived. So I log it and if I have two, I log that too. And the rest of the day is the rest of the day.

As long as you log the extra calories from the cream and sweetener you should be fine. I drink coffee with a splash of 1% milk. There is no way I would ever, ever give it up!

I've been using Stevia extract. 8 bucks a bottle at Trader Joe's, and it's looking like that's going to last me all year. I don't know whether it's any better or worse for you than Splenda, but it's at least in a convenient form factor.

Does it fit in your calorie and/or macro goals?

If yes, then no. If no, then yes.

Training myself to drink coffee black was definately helpful with counting calories... makes the math/goals easier to calculate.

Only if it puts you in a caloric surplus...

This is very true. I only take my coffee with half and half, and was surprised that a DD large with cream is almost 100 calories! Like, hey, I don't really need a cup of cream!!!

That's why I either make mine at home, or go to Starbucks where I can add my own milk, half and half, etc.

I think the key is NOT cutting out things you enjoy, makes loosing weight so much harder! So long as you are within your set limits you will be fine. Good luck with your weight loss journey xx

I cut out the cream and just drink it with a dash of Splenda. It didn't take long to get used to not having any cream or milk in it, and it was a few extra calories that were easy to permanently eliminate from my diet.

I did similar, but I took the sugar out and changed the cream to 2% milk (I go skim milk if I'm feeling especially healthy that day).
  • Haha i was thinking the same thing. The average person should poo a good 4-6 times a day thats a lot of poo :-)
