Hey everyone,

I joined this group because I needed some motivation and I hope I can get it. I have been struggling to lose 20 lbs for the last 2 yrs and I wanted to get a group of 5 to 10 people who would like to join me in a month long fast. I think it will be worth it. So if you're interested plz reply with you height, weight, and goal weight. I hope to get some replies.

I mean no offense, but I predict multiple pages of bickering. I wish you all the luck in your fast. Can I ask why 1 month?
  • fasting for a full month? i don't even know what to say to that.
  • I just feel like that would give me the appropriate time for my body detoxify and adjust to new ways of healthy eating once I break my fast. Also i haven't been able to commit to anything longer in the past.

its not like it hasn't been done before.
  • So no one huh? :D
  • i can't fast for a day, but i wanted to say good luck.

[subscript]and i wanted this to be in 'my topics'[/subscript]

How would you go about the fast? Are you thinking something like the Muslim Ramadan fast where you don't consume food and drink (aside from water) from dawn to dusk, or another type of fast?
  • Thanx :D

No just a water fast where I don't consume any solid foods for one month. I had a friend that did it so I know its possible.

Actually one girl that did this is a member of this site.
  • No offense but....YOUR CRAZY! lol. Even if you did fast for a month, you would gain it all back real quick once you started eating again. I don't think it is the greatest idea.

looool! No I wouldn't because I would reintroduce food slowly and after this I decided to go vegetarian so I wouldn't be consuming too much fatty foods.

I don't think my body would be able to handle something like that. honestly I don't think anyone's body could handle that. your body needs calories from food to function. and even if you were able to fast for that long, your metabolism would be shot. Im not trying to sound judgemental, it just seems dangerous. if you were to do it, it may be wise to consult with a doctor often during the month.

Possible, and yet not recommended by any doctor, nutritionist, or any one that's even really tried to educate themselves on nutrition and weight loss. Extremely low calorie diets, long periods of fasting might possibly be recommended to someone with massive amounts of weight to loose. 20 lbs though . . . not so much.

A 1 or 2 day fast every week with sensible eating the rest of the week can be really helpful loosing the last few pounds. See:

Lots of people use short fasts to drop weight including bodybuilders to get that super cut look.

Sorry . . . here ends my bickering.
  • Thanks
  • Well doesn't look like this will happen. Im signing off thanks to all the feedback I got.
  • thanks for this tip..

its not that we dont want to support you but notice this isnt a diet site bro you dont see a different section like atkins, palm beach stuff like that this is eating healthy and knowing what you put into your body if you look at every person on this site you will see that each person does not rant about this site not working you dont see bad reviews for myfitness because it does work its not a diet and excuse me if i sound cliche but its a lifestyle change like people on here will be mad; but there mad at themselves (or the scale) but not the site its a way of keeping you accountable for what you put into your body dont say those 20 pounds is impossible to get off because its not im sure people on here have done alot better than get off stingy pounds for example look at tami! shes dropped an unbelievable amount of weight and its not from fad diets (dont be mad at me for the name drop tami :) your just well know around here i dont mean anything by it)

no offense but to each your own and i support you no matter what but im not sending my metabolism on the fast track to hell best of luck :drinker:
