Help!

I have been going at dieting and exercising hard for two weeks. I lost three pounds the first week and now i havent lost anything. I know if i do not see results i will not keep at this. I have probably about 90 lbs to loose and three is not going to cut it for two weeks. I am not sure if im eating too much or not eating enough, If im not doing the right work outs. I would appreciate any advice from people who are good with nutrition and exercise because i need to change my life. My life literally depends on this.

Your diary is closed to us so it's hard to give advice without knowing what you're currently doing.

Did you not like the answers you got yesterday?
  • The adivise yesterday was good, but i am having an hard time understanding the food aspect. i dont want to proceed forward thinking i am eating correctly when i may be eating too much or not enough. I just really want to do well this time and stick with this.

Is it that time of the month soon as i find the week before it is difficult to shift anything?

I can understand wanting some reassurance. I took a quick glance at your diary and honestly, without knowing all your stats, it looks good to me.

Do you know your BMR and TDEE yet? In terms of feeling comfortable with my diet goals I think these really helped.

Your BMR is the number of calories your body needs to keep your body alive. It's roughly what you would burn in a coma with absolutely zero activity.

Your TDEE is roughly the number of calories you burn in a day, including everything from brushing your teeth to work and exercise. It's the number of calories you'd need to eat to maintain your current weight. Anything below this number should allow you to lose weight.

There are a lot of online calculators to get an estimate of these two numbers. I like Scooby's: http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/

Keep in mind that there really isn't a "correct" way to eat. Ultimately there is a level of trial and error involved. I checked you diary and it looks good but it only went back a week, which really isn't long enough to see if there are any trends. If you have two more weeks that look like this last one, with no loss, then it might be worth making some changes.

    Good luck.

Even more important (to my mind) than knowing my BMR and TDEE is knowing that the numbers I'm logging for food intake and caloric burn from exercise are accurate.

Are you using a scale ot weight out your ingredients/food? If you're simply using measuring spoons/cups, you could potentially be eating hundreds of calories more than you think you are.

    Watch this on youtube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVjWPclrWVY

Also, if you're factoring in exercise, and eating back any of your exercise calories, how are you estimating those? It's very common to over-estimate the calories burnt. If you are eating back any of those calories, you could potentially be eating back more than you actually burned.

My first piece of advice would be to spend $15 on a digital food scale so that you can be absolutely certain of the number of calories you're actually consuming.

Do you weigh and measure all your food? Do you log every single gram? If not then you need to. Outside of that, you're panicking after two weeks, this process is going to take a year plus. You didn't put all that weight on in a matter of weeks, it won't disappear in weeks, if you cant handle that then you have already failed. You're going to have weeks where you don't lose an ounce, and some that you gain, you need to mentally prepare yourself for that, and understand that this is a long process.

If your life "literally" depends on this, then you will keep at it. It's way too early to be freaking out. Give it some time and log everything.
