Weighing a lot less than you look.

I'm 5'4 and 116 pounds, but I've been told I look 130-140 pounds. It really upset me because I exercise everyday and lift weights on a weekly basis. How can I actually look my weight? I HATE the fact that I look 20 pounds more than my weight even though I've been doing everything I can to look thinner or closer to my real weight. What should I do?

I'd take that kind of a comment with a grain of salt. I think people suck at guessing weight, at least partially because so many people lie about it. People think that a 5'6" healthy looking woman is like 110. They really have no idea.
That said, you could try a body composition analysis and see what comes up.
If you feel like you look good and you're comfortable, then who cares?0 -
Random people are bad guessers. How are you in a position that people are guessing at your weight? Do people come up and ask or are you asking them?0
-
I'm usually asking them because I'm curious.0

I mean. If it's one person than dismiss it. If it's a lot of people...Well. You apparently look fat. Sorry to hear that.
The struggle is real.0 -
Maybe you should quit asking people to guess your weight. Just a thought.0

Start lifting weights.

Yeah... Don't ask questions you don't want to know the answer to.0 -

This. I participated in a guess my weight thread on another message board and asked if I appeared thin or average at 5'5" and overwhelmingly was told I look average, about 110 pounds. 20 pounds lighter than I am, and 110 is underweight for my height.
People don't know what a healthy weight is or what a healthy weight looks like either because everyone takes a good 10-20 pounds off when they say what they weigh.
So take it with a grain of salt, OP.0 -

OP, noffense intended, but you sound a bit obsessed with asking people to guess your weight.
Besides this, people never really know what other people weigh, and we don't guess well either.0 -
It's hard to match the weight sometimes to the looks. I wouldn't worry about it.0

This doesn't answer your question, but it is still relevant. In my 34 years on this planet I have never given a crap about what anyone thought I weighed. What relevance does that have on anything? Worry about your weight loss or fitness goals and strive to achieve them.0

Maybe the people you are asking weigh so much more than 130-140 that they thought it was a good guess for a slimmer person? Or even if a friend knocks off 10 lbs of her own weight to get yours, chances are the answer won't be as low as what you really weigh.
Also, I find heights shorter than mine very hard to try to guess. I'm not as familiar with the ranges, whereas taller people generally weigh more than my height range so that's easier. I would really guess high for a tall person weighing very little, just because you usually don't see that, even if the person is very slim.0 -
Why worry about what others think of you? Just find some happiness in yourself and love yourself. Don't worry what others think of your weight. That's not their business anyway.0

Stop going to so many carnivals.0

Try Pilates and yoga to tone. I tried weight training before and it made me look bulky so I switched to Pilates along with cardio and this worked for me.0
