Keto Diet. What about cordial?

Hi guys,
I started Keto few days ago, doing quite well. Low carbs (10-20g), nice healthy food like spinach, fish, olive oil and so on. Thing is, I do need something to keep me sane and so that happens to be quite strangely litres of tea with apple cordial (+lemon, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves). I'm new to keto or dieting in general and so I am loosing weight (mostly all this tea tbh) but can't seem to get into ketosis. Do you think I should give it more time or really try to cut on my wee cordial addiction?
Cheers

If it's bumping your carbs up, then yes, you need to cut the cordial.

It amazes me I can stay in ketosis as long as I stay under 100 carbs. Maybe were all different, not sure. Maybe give it another day or so.
  • Thanks for opinions. I will wait couple more days and once I'm done with the current bottle of cordial, I'll try and keep away from it. Then again, its so nice and sweet (no sugar in it - just lots of other crap I guess) it keeps my chocolate craving at bay.

Are you having any of the symptoms of "keto flu"? Some people can get into ketosis if their net carbs are under 60, while others have to be lower.
  • Don't think so. Got Ketostix and checked couple of times today - first thing when I woke up it looked pinkish, which means there are traces of ketons and then i checked in the evening, out of curiosity really and it was back to negative. Then again it's only been 3 days of under 20g carbs.

It can take some people up to a week or two to get into ketosis, so just stick with what you're doing.
  • Yay!! I'm in ketosis ;)
