I would say that 180 is a good goal weight for your height. You don't have to exercise if you don't want to. I just feel better when I do exercise.0

Don't just go by the scales, go by how you look too. My goal is 140lbs but if I like how I look before that, then I will stop0

It depends a lot on what you want from your body. Do you just want to be within a healthy weight range? Check the BMI range for your height and aim to get near/ within that. BMI is only a general guideline though so don't obsess over it.
You can also work with your doctor and figure out your body fat percentage and aim to make that as healthy as you can (this is more accurate than BMI). I would look it up but I believe for men its in the 18-22% range? In that way I would ignore your weight as an indicator of sucess, and rely on body fat estimates in between check ups. I use this http://www.healthcentral.com/cholesterol/home-body-fat-test-2774-143.html
If you are looking more to develop muscles and that kind of physiqe than def stick mostly to measurements and body fat indicators.
Diet is the most important factor in losing weight, but exercise can be beneficial for mindset and in helping you build muscles that will burn fat and calories even while at rest. But I too started with my focus on diet and gradually have built up my workout.0 -

my goal weight range from the medical recommendation is 136 (no f'ing way) to 179 (doable). the people's choice weight shows at 175 for me.. I'm shooting for 170 for an even 100 pounds lost.
there are any number of weight calculators out there. But go by how YOU feel and how YOU want to look.0 -
Found this site. Google it if you want to find different ones.

yeah, thats kind of how I have felt about my goal...180 just sounded good so I picked it...and yeah, exercise is probably a great way to feel even better...hopefully I can pick it up soon =]
And scales are little tricky jerks lol...that is why i am so confused about my GW...but in my mind I was thinking that I want to see how I look and feel at 180....I think what confuses me is the BMI stuff that says i should weight 150 or something like that...I havent been 150 since 5th or 6th grade!0 -
true, I have no idea what my body fat % is...and i haven't been in for a check up in so longg....but I just learned about the clinic at my university that is basically free of charge and hopefully they can give me the personal advice im looking forr =]] thanks0
