How many dress sizes did you drop in 3 months?

Hi,

I am a newbie on here and so desperate to lose weight for my wedding. I get married in exactly 3 weeks I don't know what I weigh exactly as I am not to bothered about what the scales say I just want to feel comfortable and more toned. I am currently a UK size 14 and my jeans are quite tight around my belly but not uncomfortably so.

I am currently doing 20 minutes cardio work out a day ( I cant do it for longer as I have a 6 month and 3 year old) I also have started weight training/Circuit training 3 times a week with my Dad which is pretty hard going and a high impact cardio routine once a week with my mum. I am starting 30 day shred tomorrow as I have tried it on youtube a couple of times and really like it so ordered the DVD last week. I also am out and about constantly with my girls so pretty much always on my feet!

Diet wise I have been eating between 1100 and 1500 calories a day for the last 10 days. I am desperate to feel nice in my wedding dress and I would love some inspiration from fellow dieters on how your weight loss is going mainly if possible in terms of dress sizes?

Success stories and advice would be so helpful right now many thanks x x x x x

If you've had your final dress fitting you probably shouldn't be trying to lose weight or it won't fit right!

Congratulations on your engagement!! I hope the wedding is beautiful and the marriage is happy :)
Three weeks isn't really long enough for the gradual kind of weight loss that really stays off, but I think it's long enough to drop one dress size if you really really work hard and limit yourself to 1,200 net calories!
Try to burn at least 500 calories a day and then eat back the exercise calories so that you're eating 1,700 in total, and really work on intensive workouts if 20 mins is all you have.
Be active with the kids and dance and walk as much as you can. If it's the shape of your body you want to change, and not pounds you want to lose, then limiting calories isn't enough, you've got to sculpt your body by really working hard! 30 day shred is great for that so go you for getting started! But remember to keep burning through out the day by walking etc. try to do 10,000 steps a day :)

I hope this helps. In the past four months I've dropped from a UK size 14/16 to a size 10/12, but I haven't really done much exercise so my body has stayed the same shape, only a little smaller, as all I've done was limiting calories. I really regret it and wouldn't recommend that to anyone!
  • thank you so much for the replies i get married in 3 months not three weeks lol i have my final dress fitting at the end of march.

nkip thanks so much for your advice you are spot on, i initially want to lose my baby fat but at the same time I want to sculpt my body so no horrible bingo wings and back fat in my dress lol. huge congrats on your amazing results i would love to be a 10/12 for the big day and im more motivated than ever.

sorry for the error before but it is 3 months not weeks. xxx

Three months is totally doable!! I wish you all the best :) keep working hard and remember to stay focused :) The hardest part will be managing your weight after the big day and keeping it off, but for now just enjoy the process of building your new body! good luck xx

Also - a little bit of additional advice - it's worth getting a heart rate monitor so that you know how many calories you're actually burning, and a pedometer to make sure you're walking enough.
Plus it's really important to fill out your profile, set yourself mini goals, and take 'before' photos and 'before' measurements so that you can see how much progress you're making and motivate yourself :)
Also, try drink at least 2 liters of water - this will make you feel more awake, healthier and also weigh less!
Moisturize your skin as well as drinking water to try to protect against loose or sagging skin.
And try to meet the nutritional info that's recommended by MFP, your body will thank you!

There's a group called Goal: Spring 2014 Weight Loss where you can compare weight loss with other MFP members, but it is all about weight lost rather than measurements. I think it's worth joining, because it's really motivating, but it's up to you!
Sorry for rambling! Feel free to add x
