Vitamins in helping losing and maintaining weight??

Options
Hi. I have been taking some vitamins for a long time after I started my weight loss journey. Now I decided to stop taking them because you know there are different opinions on whether you really need them or not... I've noticed changes though after I stopped taking them particularly in my abdominal area-it's not as firm and flat anymore. My exercise and nutrition haven't really changed. So I am not sure if it's a coincidence (I did have some extra sweets over the holidays????) or it's the vitamins that help me. Those were just vitamins not weight loss pills. Any opinions? Thanks.

Calories are what makes people lose or maintain weight, not vitamins.

There are some things that your body needs that it can't get in a regular diet that vitamins can provide. It is for this reason that I take vitamins daily.

Coenzyme Q10, Iodine, magnesium, zinc, biotin, chromium (just as a few examples...)

Unless you are proven deficient in Q10, you should not supplement it. A Q10 deficiency is a mitochondrial disease.

Iodine, magnesium, zinc, chromium and biotin (a B vitamin) are all present in food sources. Eat a varied diet and you'll get enough, even at a calorie deficit.

I get blood tests through my doc to know what I'm deficient in. Then there is no guessing. Vitamins and minerals can definitely play a crucial role in your overall health. But, know what you actually need. They can't define muscle or cut out fat, sugar or extra calories. They won't negate poor choices like not staying active and consistently indulging. Please don't read this as being preachy! I've learned through a lot of research and personal experience!

I'm low or acutely deficient in:

    B12
    Vitamin D
    Iron

I take supplements to keep these levels up. I also take Biotin. I lost a lot of hair from my iron deficiency. In addition, I take a pre-natal vitamin everyday. Woman in child bearing years should be taking these. Not to prepare for pregnancy but because we NEED everything in them.

    Hope this helps.
