I am not sure if this is the right area for this, but I will ask anyway. I just got a new scale and it is showing a much higher weight than my previous scale. By about 30 pounds. Are some scales that inaccurate? Is there anyway to know if the new one just not good or was my old one was really that inaccurate. I have had other people test both and they also see a 30 lbs difference. Thanks!

Which Scale did you buy?0

That's a huge difference. Do you have some weights to test them?0

Whoa! If you don't have weights like the other poster suggested (great idea, btw!!!!!) you could go to your local grocery, they usually have a scale as soon as you walk in (which seems kind of like a bad idea now that I think about it lol) and you could hop on that just to see if your weight is closer to the old scale or new scale's reading. If your old scale was really really old the springs could be damaged - but 30 pounds seems more like a defect in your new scale, that is way too off! I'd say 10 pounds or so of difference would be expected; but that may even be a little too much.0

Sounds like a dud scale. IF it is electronic, take the batteries out and reset. If still that off, send back. I've had to do that a couple of times with cheap electronic scales.0

Which one are you and your friends saying is wrong, the new or the old?
What kind of scales are they? An old spring run type? A sliding weight type? Is the new one digital/electronic? And also check to see if it's possible set on kilograms instead of pounds.0 -
The scale is a GoWise gw22029. I tried weighing weights and both scales read the same thing, which makes it even weirder! Could it be wonky over a certain weight?0

There must be a way to reset it.0

Something is really messed up. If it's weighing smaller weights accurately, do you think you weigh more than its maximum? Return it. Otherwise it is just a dud, so..return it. From reading amazon reviews, it does seem like every so often people just get wonky scales. You should be able to exchange it at least.0
