Is this normal?

I'm eating around 1500 calories a day (I'm 5'3, my TDEE is 1350 if I remember right)--I have also recently started getting back on the treadmill and doing squats (up to 50 a day) every day. I haven't been eating more since I started back on the treadmill, but I have gained 2, almost 3 pounds in the last two weeks, right when I started this. Everyone always says "it's muscle" No offense, but I don't think so. I could be wrong...my body does gain muscle quick, but can it really be THAT quick?
This happens to me pretty much every time I start working out again and it really doesn't taper off either.
Does anyone know the real reason for this? I have been on the treadmill, walking on a very slight incline, about 9 times now, all 2-4 miles at a time, and I have done 30-50 squats a day for about 11 days straight.
I know I should be eating closer to 1300 cals for weight loss, but the work outs shouldn't be making me gain weight....
So strange...thoughts anyone? Is it water? Should I be drinking even more water to flush it out? I'm at a loss.

You can't gain muscle in a deficit.
You can however retain water when you significantly change or increase your exercise. A couple pounds initial gain is expected.0 -
It's water, and normal when you first start working out. Be patient.
Also, I am sorry, but I doubt that your TDEE is 1350. Do you mean what MFP calculated for you with its calculator for weight loss?0 -

Sorry, its not TDEE, its resting calorie burn.0 -

Thank you. I hope that's the case. I know I'm not perfect in my workout/diet strategy, but I do what I can, when I can, and it's not that I'm expecting a huge change after 2 weeks, but an increase on the scale is disheartening. Hopefully in the next week or so, I will at least notice changes in how clothes feel.0 -
Is it getting close to that time of the month? I always gain 2-5 pounds right before my period, but it goes away after.0
