Recs for jogging/hiking shoe?

I'm looking for a recommendation for a good shoe/boot for jogging and hiking. I do most of my walking, and now jogging, at our local dog park. It's extremely uneven terrain with a bunch of small hills. At the moment, it's covered in about a foot of hard packed snow topped with the 5 inches of fresh snow we got the other day. I've got some really decent walking/jogging shoe but it doesn't have the ankle support that I need in this environment and I also don't want a shoe full of snow. My snow boots are basically just generic uggs so there's no support in them at all, just pretty to look at and keep the snow off my feet.

Any recommendations?

I don't think there's a show out there that would be a good hiker and runner.

You have two options, a good fake material trail runner that will dry quickly.

Or, use what I like and use for both:
    My five finger komodos.
  • I would buy a good pair of Salomon Trail Running shoes..Light weight, good lateral support.

Hi - I love my Salomon Discovery GTX boots.

They've been taking me 3-7 racewalking AND jogging miles each week in snowy New Hampshire. No shin splints, no knee issues, and my dodgy right ankle has been nicely protected. Warm, dry feet.
    --Fire trail
    --Singletrack
--Snowshoeing (with & without the snowshoes *wry grin*)
    --Hills. Many MANY hills.

Is it the *same* as my New Balance running shoes? No, but then the snow and ice change my gait too, and on days when I need to put on crampons, it's another ballpark altogether.

I'm over 200 lbs and 5'6" - lots of extra insulation being lugged around, so I've been incredibly grateful for how well these boots are performing. Initial fears of them being inflexible or not cushiony enough haven't panned out. They're awesome!

For me it's about being able to get out there, and I'm not trying to set PRs. YMMV!

link so you can see the boots (can probably find them cheaper, of course):

Thanks everyone. I'll look into those later tonight and see what I think of them. Since we've got cold temps moving back in, I've got a week or so to find something better. My husky may like this cold weather but I'm not going to the park when tomorrow's high is 4.
