I was just diagnosed with this recently. I hardly know anything about it. It explains why I am always drained and have a sore throat. Anyone know anything about it. I struggle with energy constantly and this may be a reason why.

It's just mono. Get a lot of sleep and drink a lot of liquids. You should be fine in no time! Make sure to rest though and don't over exert yourself till you feel better.

it's actually infectious mono and can be dangerous if you don't take care of yourself. follow dr recommendations
  • I HAD MONO HARD freaking core this summer.
I got way sick and then mis-diagnosed a couple times before my blood test came back positive for it. I'll put it this way.. I was so sick of getting my blood drawn by the end.
I still am dealing with the effects. I am tired ALL THE TIME. But mine came with fevers of 102+ for 3 1/2 weeks straight nonstop and not being able to get out of bed...I also couldn't eat anything, or walk to the bathroom without feeling like I was going to keel over.
If all you have is the fatigue, consider yourself lucky. My mono weakened my immune system so much, I got pnuemonia at the same time...
Worst part of mono, the effects can last for monthsssss. Luckily, unless you are in your late teens or early 20's mono usually is only mild. (lucky)
You just got to push through it. I find I can still do hardcore workouts as long as I am motivated, but I still sleep like 10+ hours a night due to fatigue. It's nuts

ONE suggestion though, is if you do still try to be active, your spleen is enlarged, so if you work out to hard there is a slight chance of it rupturing. While this is super rare, dont risk it. just do light exercise and dont get kicked in the spleen :)

Keep eating healthy and being active and you'll feel more like yourself in a few months :)
  • and drink lots of fluids to rehydrate :)
  • Thanks guys.

SOrry to hear you had such a hard time, Safari. I was told by the doc it is currently not active but will be in my body forever. It definitely lowered my immune system because it was active this summer. With me being a first year teacher and kids coming to school sick, I am getting sick all the time. I hate it!

Thanks for all of your advice.

I have EBV I take supplements for people who have thyroid conditions and avoid sick people. I get Mono at least one a year , i don't go to the dr anymore I know I am going to be exhausted and drained, I sleep when my body says sleep and still try to maintain exercise ( last time I doubled up to fact up for the fact that I was so inactive the rest of the time). Good luck!
  • Thanks for replying, Jrlenig. I don't know anyone else who has it and would like to know more about it. Your weight loss journey is very inspiring! Great work!

I have low blood pressure which is in part too EBV, which slows down your adrenal system, I take a B complex vitamin and 500 mg of L-Tyrosine 500( for normal healthy, nervous system acivity), pantothenic acid 20 mg ( which is 200% of the Daily Recommended). Here is an article to read ( there are other suggestions), part is about diet, I have only been sick once changing my diet and to be honest I get sick when I kind of went off ship for a few weeks with my diet ( was still working out but I was eating a ton of fatty foods).

hopefully a little preventive hand washing and you never suffer from the virus again, but it will take some time before you feel like you again!
