Yo-yo weight

Hi guys!

So I'm trying to lose weight, but after a certain point it seems that my body doesn't want to lose anymore. I'll lose down to a certain point/number and then in a matter of days I'm up by 4 or 5 lbs. Then I'll lose those lbs. Then I go back up. This is a never-ending cycle. It's really frustrating. I've tried going higher then lower in my intake, adding exercise, just about anything I can think of. But I'm not seeing results. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

  • I have the same problem. I've been hovering between 182-187 for over a month now... goes up, then down, and vice versa. I'm going to try to break my plateau by dropping my calories by 200 a day, and increasing my workouts to burn at least 3,000 calories a week. My suggestion would be to make sure you're tracking correctly. Measure things and weigh your food. Its really easy to underestimate how much you're really eating. Good luck!

What is your diet and exercise program? Are you consistently and accurately logging every bite you eat? When does this happen- after how much time on a diet? What weight does it happen at, what are you at now and what is your goal? We need to know exactly what you're doing to figure out exactly what you're doing wrong.

With only 13 lbs. left to lose, your goal should be set to lose .5 lb. per week. Your diary is locked, so I can't give you any feedback on your food choices or logging.

If you're not losing weight, you're not eating at a deficit. You're underestimating your food &/or overestimating your burn. Log everything you eat accurately & honestly. Weigh your food. Try eating back half your exercise calories. Everybody's different, and weight loss takes a whole lot of trial & error to find what works for you.

I try to overestimate, rather than under since I can't weigh my food due to still living at home and my parents being hyper sensitive to everything I do with food. But I will try the other things. Thanks!

I basically try to stay within my allotted calories and I try to exercise at least 30-60 minutes a day. I eat around 1500 cals max a day. I try to log as accurately as possible. I can't even say how long I'll be on a diet. Right now I've been trying to lose this weight since last June, so around 8 months, but it's happened in the past at about the same weight. I wanna lose about 10-15 more lbs to get to a better weight for me, although others often say I don't need to lose any weight. I see that I do, but with people always telling me that I don't, do you think maybe this could be my body's way of telling me I don't? I weigh about 105-110 depending on the day and such.

Ok. Thank you. Maybe I'll try doing something like that. Also, there is a good possibility that I might not be since I usually try to tell how much I've had by my parents. And they don't always know the right sizes. Thanks!
