new day new me!

I am so happy to find a place where I can look at my daily intake with accurate calorie counting. I have food allergies and this site has gluten free foods, diary free foods and lots of 'other' to list in the menu section.
I have had a very rough few years, including repairing through surgery 7 damaged discs and two nearly severed nerves; graduating my youngest from high school; moving her to college 'empty nest' and divorce through betrayal.. didn't see that coming. I gained weight during all of this.. now it is time to take that weight off and being older is not the same as taking weight off when I was younger. I still have not found an exercise that doesn't hurt OR the balance in exercise before getting to the point where you can't exercise the next day 'or three or four' ... I'm sure it is there though.
I am finally at a place where it is time for me. Putting myself first not because someone says so, but because I say so.
I am an artist, mother to two wonderful young adults, friend and sister, Aunti and daughter to my still living 83 year old mother. I like music, salsa dance, movies, reading, drama free zones and friendly conversation. I am a coffee snob, sorry it's just true.
I'd like some weight loss inspirational buddies here.. I live in a small rural town by virtue of now defunct marriage; I don't know many people where I live and it is hard to make friends here "I wasn't born here like much of the five generation families who were"... since back surgery I am now able to drive so I can visit my family more often, and visit my college aged child at her college a few times every few months. My eldest travels for work and will be out of the country for a year.. doing well but it is a huge loss for me. "really very proud of this child's path though"
that is a bit about me.. you?

Life is tough but it dosent have to be that way forever if we make some changes, if you can manage, get your shoes on and do a little bit of walking each day if you can , if your not comfortable to do that where you live maybe take a drive to a safe and quiet road out of town a bit and take a watch with you and a freind and see how much you can go for and repeat each day, some days are tough , but the question is , how bad do you want this, ask yourself this each day to so no excuses come into it , we all make them..... lots of people will be right here to help you try to eat good clean food as much as you can don,t worry to much if you eat a naughty cooky or something , have a look at others food diary,s and you will see where not all perfect. be kind to yourself and it will all work out ....:drinker:0

Hello lovely,
I have been through similar so I understand where you are coming from. Take each day at a time and never forget that "bad days" just happen but we move onwards and upwards through them. I find that grounding and meditation help me when I feel overwhelmed. I am an emotional eater and when I feel that I may turn to naughty foods I meditate and or ground, I find it helps. We are all different and what may work for one may not work for another, find your own way and good luck.
Take care xx0 -
I admire your spunk.
You've had a rough trot - your ex sounds like the douche bag from hell - what an *kitten* hole (*kitten* in american).
Anyway, I've come back from hell myself - about 23 years ago and can reassure you it does get better! :flowerforyou:0 -

Hi
I have just been through similar circumstances, i also have had trouble with my discs in the past and the extra weight kills them.
I also have 2 children but they are 13 and 10. In a place also i have said this year i am going to think about me for a change, my ex did not pay the mortgage so house very nearly repsossed then went off with another woman.
My mum is 80 on sunday and lives with us, we also live in a small town where everyone seems to know everyone elses life history.
I am kept busy running after the kids and working so not much time left over. My diary is open and try and be good so want to help my back.
good luck x0 -
