I know I will never get abs without moving the fat from on top of them.
In the meantime what can I do that's good for toning the area? does this quicken the process of shedding stomach fat?
I've tried crunches but my lower back hurts when I do, so looking for alternatives.

Have you tried Planking?0

Planks and L-sits are all I do for core specific, everything else comes from the big lifts (deads/squats). but you're right, nutrition will determine "seeing" them, but you can certainly train them and get them stronger. Which will help with lower back pain. Lower back pain is something I struggle with as well, strengthening your core will work wonders in that regard. Also, strengthen your glutes and Hamstrings to help support your lower back.0
