College kid trying to dodge the extra poundage!

Hey everyone,
I'm a college Freshman, and am tired with being the "big" kid. I'm a19 year old 5"11 male, around 200 pounds, and I decided that I wanted to become fit at college (and surprise all my friends and family back home!). College food has been making me get bigger by the day... Time to stop that.
So just saying hi. Hopefully I can drop my weight down to ~165-170 and pick some muscle up in the process!

There's NO better feeling than going away to school and coming back with a whole new outlook/body. Good luck to you!0

Good job on the stopping the Freshman Fifteen (or the Four Year 50 as it was in my case) in its tracks. Make sure to sleep. Poor sleeping leads to poor eating leads to a shot metabolism. Good luck.0

Good luck Pr3fix!
It's hard to lose weight in general, but just add college to that mix! Now, the holidays and good homecooked meals...almost seems hopeless!0 -
Good luck! Wish I had done what you're doing now. :ohwell:0

Hey!
Welcome!
I was EXACTLY the same as you last year, I wanted to lose weight. I hoped that college would keep me busy enough to forget about cravings. It did, however, I regained the 28lbs I lost BEFORE I started.
I will say this:
Watch out for the vending machines!!
Often I was so busy I didn't get time to eat properly (I also stopped using MFP due to lack of access).
Take a healthy packed lunch, and only use the vending machine for water.
Oh, and don't do what I did and leave MFP, I still regret it to this day.
Good luck!0 -
Good luck!! Freshman year (which seems forever ago now) was the beginning of all of my weight gain.. as someone else said earlier it was more like the 4 yr 50 for me...
Stick with it, and I"m betting you'll surprise everyone back home!0
