My HRM is showing a higher calorie burn than my treadmill??

I always thought exercise machines overestimated calorie burn. My HRM is showing an even higher calorie burn than my treadmill though. ???

Personally,I never trust calorie output from any machine, especially ones found on cruise ships.

Their numbers simply do not add up.

Mine did too, I was showed this URL:
    http://www.shapesense.com/fitness-exercise/calculators/heart-rate-based-calorie-burn-calculator.aspx

This will take your avg heat rate from your HRM and you will find what you are actually burning, which will still be higher then the treadmill

I decided to leave my polar on for an hour during "sitting" time to see what I burn while not working out. It averaged out to 1.8 calories a minute. So when I exercise, I take away the 1.8 calories per minute from what the hrm says, to calculate how many calories I actually can eat back.

For example, today I did cardio for an hour. My hrm said that I burned 478 calories. I subtracted 108 calories (60 min x 1.8) from that, and got 370 calories for my actual calories that I can eat back...

That's great! I will try that next time. Thanks!
