Help Getting Started!

Hi all,

I am trying to lose weight for like the 100th time now. I am 200lbs looking to get down to 150 eventually, but for a smaller goal I would like to lose about 20 pounds. I crave fast food a lot and I am not sure why! It's so annoying to crave eating out all the time. I think it is due to my lack of knowledge on what to eat to lose weight. I am looking for friends on here who have an open diary so I can get some ideas for lunch and dinner so I don't grab a burger all the time! Also I would appreciate any and all tips you guys have on just starting out.

Thanks!
Gina

There are no specific foods to eat to lose weight - it's all about calories in vs calories out. I'd say start by logging everything you eat for a week (weigh your food to get accurate calorie numbers) and that will give you an idea of where you're at and what you can start cutting down on. I still eat chocolate and cheesecake, just in moderation! One of my favourite quick easy dinners is a chicken stir fry - just cut up a chicken breast, fry it in a splash of olive oil, then add frozen stir fry veggies. Quick and delicious, and healthy too.

I've stopped and started here a couple times (my current weight is back where I started two years ago-grrr) I have had good success when I stick with it. The hubby and I are making a big effort to eat more at home, to save money and calories. I have discovered that even when I eat out, I'm making better choices. I'd start by logging all your food, especially when you eat out (no cheating!) For me seeing how many calories and fat were involved made it easier to be turned off to that type of food. Feel free to add me if you want.

I understand this eating what you want in moderation thing, but if I eat something bad that I want I dont have self-control (I know that is something I need to work on) So it's better if I stay away from it all together. Thank you for your stir-fry idea that is something I can definitely make! I will log in everything for a week like you say and maybe that will be an eye-opener on how out of control my portions are lol thanks!!
