I have met my water quota but I think the hardest thing for me to do is to cut back on the soda. I didn't realize how many calories I was drinking. I'm so happy I found this site becauseI needed help getting myself on track. I'm now painfully aware of how horribly I've been eating. I would love any support I can get because I have a hard time staying focused.:drinker:

Welcome. I am starting my 5th month on MFP and I love it. It's the best decision I have made in many years. I have lost weight with diets many times before, but it was never a lifestyle change. This time is different; it's a lifestyle change, not a diet. Good luck on your weight loss journey. Please feel free to add me as a friend; we can help motivate each other.0

Have you tried the Pepsi Max? I think it tastes just like regular soda with no calories! BUT you still want to limit them. I have read studies that even artificial sugar is not good for the body, it makes you crave the real thing.
Try maybe one or two a day to get that craving under control, but then try to get rid of them slowly over a period of time to where you're not drinking any sodas! Maybe try a little coffee sweetened with stevia or some herbal tea! That's what I do when I'm craving something more than water with no calories!
Dieting is hard! But like the previous poster said, it's a life-style change! AND YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!! Anything you put your mind to you can achieve (such a cliche but the truth)! Hang in there girl! We're all in the same boat together! I have been trying for weeks, but the weekends seem to kill my diet, so I'm not losing any, just regaining the calories I burned the week before!! BUT I just got in the TURBOFIRE DVD's and I'm pumped and motivated to stay on track! I love TURBOJAM!
FInd something that you love to do physically, and stick with it! Exercise is part of the losing weight game! But don't think of it as exercise; instead think of it as something you want to do and you can do to make yourself feel better!
Good luck!!!!!!!!0 -
I was shocked to find out the McDonalds $1 tea has as many calories as a McDonads small coke...220 calores to be exact. I was like :noway: so Now if I have a tea its my treat for the week....0

Welcome! Wow, if you replace your Pepsi with calorie-free drinks, just think how much weight you'll lose! I just joined MFP because I want support keeping my healthy habits and maintaining my weight. I know what you mean about becoming painfully aware of past eating habits once you start tracking things. Ouch! Feel free to add me as a friend, we can support each other in our goals.0

Hi Tonia.
(Isn't that how they respond at the AA meetings? )
You are on your way! Using tools like MFP to get a serious reality check on what we consume food and liquid is a HUGE part of this journey to health! Bravo!0 -
Hi Tonia....Welcome to MFP! I have been here for over a year and a half, some days I'm better then others, in the sense of logging in on my food journal....I to enjoy my soda, and oh how bad it is...LOL Others would love to go out and get ice cream, I would pass on the ice cream for a pepsi...I so know how you're feeling! But over the year and a half I have realized its what works for you, and for me, I try not to limit myself to anything...I believe its all moderation and portion control. I am a VERY active person, I'm at the gym at least one a day, sometimes twice a day.Just ran in first 5K on Saturday...But b/c I would drive myself crzy not having at least 1 pepsi, I try to set aside some extra for a pepsi, mid day when I need a kick of caffeen...Someone might read this and say its all wrong, but I am down over 70 pounds and its what works for me, I'm happy, not miserable dieting, just watching what I eat and making sure I get myself to the gym....Wish you the best of luck here, its a great place to be.........Don't be afraid to look me up either, if you need some extra support......Stay Strong

I can relate I was drinking nothing but Dr Pepper two years ago. I set a number for me to have each day and the next week dropped the number by one until I was completely off of them!! Hope this helps!!0

Thanks for the post, I just figured out how to check them. I'm down to about 1 soda a day and I try to work out to compensate and allow myself an extra one when I'm having a craving. I'm going to check out the Pepsi Maxx and see what it taste like.0

I can relate to that, everyone was telling me to stop eating carbs or drink shakes for breakfast and lunch. I can't do that. I like food and thats why I'm lovin MFP, I can eat whatever but I need to watch the portions. Once I started realizing how many calories were in things I started snacking on fruit instead of chocolate. I'm not trying to punish myself I just need to eat better.0

I used to be addicted to pepsi as well but I traded it in for one cup of coffee with fat free creamer. It took awhile but now I love it and OMG it is only like 30 calories. Great job on cutting back so far0

Hi, Tonia.
I used to be addicted to Diet Coke, to the point that I drank at least six cans a day. I thought about cutting back and allowing myself maybe one a day, but I decided to just stop drinking it instead. I miss it sometimes, but I survived! Best of luck with whatever you decide to do. It really is all about deciding what will work for you and having the willpower to stick to it.0 -
Hi Tonia,
Welcome to the site! I love it for keeping me aware of everything I eat and the wonderful support. I too struggle with an addiction to soda. I've cut back a lot just knowing I'm drinking empty calories when I could be enjoying a great meal instead. You can friend me if you'd like!0 -
Hi Tonia  (Sorry I had too)
My name is Tina and I'm a former Diet Coke junkie. This was my Diet Coke schedule...
Breakfast: Diet Coke
10 AM: Diet Coke
Dinner: Diet Coke
2pm: Occasional Diet Coke
Supper: Diet Coke
Before Bed: Occasional Cherry Vodka with Diet Coke
I started my weight loss journey about 4 weeks ago and told myself more water less Diet Coke. I went from 6 cans a day to NONE in that time. At first it was just one a day to help with the headaches. Now unless I'm drinking I don't have one nor do I crave them. I've had them with a handful of suppers since then and don't even drink the whole can. This is HUGE cuz I was buying a 12 pack for under my desk at work once a week plus whatever I needed at home. :noway:
It can be done just do it on your own time.0 -
Hi, I was a diet coke drinker until a few weeks ago. I was always craving sugar even though I didn't drink or eat sugar. Then I read that even when you drink diet soda it still makes you body crave sugar.....so it was very hard for me, but I gave up my beloved diet coke. It makes living healthy aeasier now that the craving for sugar is not so strong. Good luck : )0
