Suggestions on a replacement for Campbells Chunky Soup

Hey guys I am looking for a replacement for Campbells Chunky Soup. I have always had it for lunch everyday and it is my favourite soup. Although I have cut back my servings to less than half of what I used to eat, the sodium is still ridiculous and I find myself consistently going over.

Does anyone have any suggestions on equally good canned soup that is just as tasty? I like Chicken with Rice, Prime Rib with Vegetables, Beef and a couple other ones. :) Preferably a brand that is in Canada as I live in Canada lol.

Thank you in advance!

Progresso Light soups are really good and some of them the whole can is only 140 calories. The sodium content is still ridiculous though. You'll have that with any canned soup unfortunately.

Homemade is your best option. Make up a big crockpot and freeze portions. I keep Chunky on hand for breakfast if I'm short on food, but hate the sodium level in canned stuff.

I agree with the Progressive Light. I do like homemade soups better also but the light are very good and filling, but the sodium is still high. There might be ones that have lower sodium.

    A little less sodium........

Healthy Request versions of Chunky Soup....not many flavors

Amy's has lower sodium soups (not sure if in Canada)

A lot less sodium.......homemade. I know, not what you want to hear. Unless you have medical issues..... I would eat the soup, but then make sure to stay really hydrated. I love Chunky soups, especially in winter!

Ahhh........ had a look at my settings. I no longer track sodium (I track fiber instead). If you don't have medical issues.....you might tweak your account settings to track something else.

I love Chunky soup too. It i s-18 here today and it is the only thing I want to eat lol.

Homemade soups NEVER turn out for me no matter what I do. I have tried multiple recipes on Pinterest..just no. I don't know what i do wrong but I cannot make soup or stews.

I will have to keep an eye open for that Healthy Request one. I don't know if I have seen it at No Frills.

The Healthy Request are the Campbells brand but they have a little green heart on the left side. Some are Chunky, some are not. Not nearly as many varieties as regular Campbell's

It's probably not your cooking skills... Pinterest is sorta known for epic fails, lol! Crockpots/slow cookers are awesome for soup, stew & lots of other meals :drinker:

I like the Progresso Light soups as well. You also have the option of making your own.

And have you been told to limit your sodium intake for any particular reason?

The only reason I look at sodium is for the games it plays with the scale. It makes it more difficult to evaluate progress.

    This for me.
If you are generally healthy, have normal blood pressure and so on as I do, it wouldn't (and doesn't) worry me.

Unless you have a specific reason for worrying about sodium, it really is not that important to track. If you consistently eat a certain amount of sodium, your kidneys do a great job of eliminating the extra as long as your drink plenty of water. Weigh fluxuations from water gain because of sodium usually are a result of eating a largely different (usually more) amount of sodium than you usually do. I personally love my chunky soup.
