trans fat and smoked haddock

Every time I eat smoked haddock I notice trans fats appear on my nutrition breakdown. I am mystified by this as surely this is a food they are not added to .I am in UK.
Any answers please?

I can't really help with this but I'm in the UK as well and noticed that when I have cabbage they are appearing in my breakdown.
    I'm equally mystified.
Granted its frozen cabbage, I travel a lot so I tend to use frozen veg as it stays fresher but still I didn't expect trans fats.

So any feedback on this as well as your haddock would be appreciated.

What do the ingredients lists show? Any partially hydrogenated oils?

Trans fats occur naturally in some foods, but it's primarily meats and cheeses. I'm honestly not sure about fish (I tried to Google a little but gave up, lol), but I'm totally bewildered about the cabbage unless it's added.

If it is from added vegetable oils in the packaging then that would be bad. If it is natural it should be just fine. The big problem is trans fats from man made hydrogenated oils. Naturally occurring trans fats are rare but they exist and are not damaging.

And not naturally found in fish. The natural TF's are found in ruminants like cattle, sheep, bison, goat etc commonly referred to as CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) and vaccenic which is generally never referenced. It could show up in the smoking formulation, who knows, but for sure something has been mucked with, try other brands or possibly naturally smoked as opposed to the manufactured liquid smoke.

Unless they're smoking the fish themselves and naturally most fish mongers buy their fish from some other source or sources. Ask them.

Wait, I had a thought - are you just saying that it's included in the nutritional information for whatever you're adding to your diary? Or are you saying that the specific nutritional info shown on the actual product you're purchasing shows it? If it's the former, maybe you're just using a bad entry - I scrolled through about 8 or 10 entries for smoked haddock and didn't see it listed. If it's the latter, then I'd talk to the fishmonger and/or use a different product, because that just seems unnecessary.

thank you - there is no brand so I used a generic one maybe that is the solution. transfats hardly ever appear in UK food
