Weighing in

The scale haunts me, even now I can hear it calling me to inevitable disappointment... How do YOU avoid weighing in?

I weigh myself everyday in the morning. Seeing the day to day fluctuation has helped take the numbers less seriously...some days up, some days down. As long as the overall trend is down, I'm happy

I know It's not always going to go down. weight fluctuates a lot over the course of a day and it goes up and down with your monthly cycle. I just get on the scale every saturday morning.

This. Not going to lie some days it still sucks to see it go up but it does help me see that it all goes down in the end as long as I am sticking within my calories. I keep a spreadsheet so I can monitor some monthly ups and stalls.

I am in the MOVE program with the VA. We weigh ourselves daily and it has a computer link that records it with my dietitian.
I also weigh myself again sometime just to see how i respond to sodium and such in my diet. I have some serious health problems and the numbers help me keep track.
It NEVER gets me down if it goes up because it will go down as soon as I behave myself and eat correctly. The scale is just another tool to keep me healthy just like my blood pressure machine.

I hope to achieve this more zenlike attitude. Meanwhile, I weigh & if it's not down, angst a bit, then move on in blind faith.
  • Just keep to your diet and pounds well drop. Don't let it get to you progress is happening

I do the spreadsheet too and input my weight every morning before anything else. It is very nice to see the trends because then I can understand the ups in relation to previous months and what is normal with my body...very helpful for me.

I went years without weighing, then last summer I recommitted myself to weight loss after maintaining for a year and a half. I was losing very fast and got into the bad habit of weighing daily, several times a day.

Eventually I got sick of this stupid bad habit, had my wife hide the scale, and decided to measure my progress by old smaller clothes and visuals in the mirror. That did it. The scale sits in our room now and I don't feel tempted to step on it at all. It was just a bad habit that needed some time and distance.
