Rollerblading

Hi all,
I recently tried out rollerblading for the first time since I was a teenager, but Ive seen so many conflicting report on how many calories it burns. According to my speed of 6.57km for 50 mins, on one chart ive only burned 133. There are two choices on this site for counting this. On the first rollerblading entry here, its like 900, the second entry is 450. Neither takes the speed into account.
But surely a good hour, sweating like crazy, must burn more than 133, that just seemed so small!
Heres the chart I worked off: http://www.lenihan.org/sk8_calories.htm
Thoughts?
Thanks

Rollerblading definitely burns more than 133 calls per hour - after all just walking burns more than that!
Depending on your weight I would say anywhere from 400 to 600 calories an hour would be more accurate.0 -
Thats what I thought! Sure I burnt most of that 133 getting them on and off lol!0

Have you tried using an actual calories burned calculator where you enter your weight to get the answer?
Oh and hey, if you only wear one piece of gear, make sure you wear wrist guards, speaking as someone who loves blading, you'll appreciate them if you ever wipe out.0 -

That one has weight and speed, a lot of the other ones just have weight and time of exercise, which are all giving me wildly different answers from 500--900. I measured my speed using Strava, so I hope thats pretty accurate.
Ah yeah I have the wrist braces, I dont need a broken wrist
Im not planning everything due to calories burned but it would just be nice to know0 -
You know what I would do is check out how many calories a calculator says you would burn walking or jogging at that speed. That would give you an idea of where your caloric burn should roughly be, right?
Good stuff, I always cringe a little when I see people without them ????0 -
I rollerskate and wear a heart rate monitor if I go nonstop it a pretty good clip I burned about 300 cal in 45 minutes to an hour. It feels like a pretty comparable work out too when I do an hour-long Zumba class which is also about 300 cal an hour. I know age And weight factor into the calories you burn but I would definitely think more than 133cal in an hour.0
