What gets you going? What makes you want to try harder?

Everybody has a motivating factor. For me, its watching a Victoria's Secret Fashion show. I never compare myself to those models nonetheless watching them own the ramp in those teeny bikinis wish i was that confident with my body. Every time i think of wearing a bikini, i grimace. I wouldn't be caught dead in one. But i know i can get to the place where i can and will wear a bikini. I also love motivational images and quotes. So whats yours? what gets you off the couch? what gets you going? what keeps you going?

My kids and my mom, my mom passed from lung cancer and was over weight my entire childhood, i saw her struggle with food and becasue she was unhappy with herself she mad me feel bad about myself, I was a chunky kid(Pre pubesent) and my moms constant nagging ended up with me becomeing and struggling with bulimia and anorexia for the next 12 years, when i met my husband at 21 he ran me to the hospital twice becaue my body could not stop shaking from lack of food and abusing diet pills(Not my happiest moment) then something happend, I became pregnant and got my act together, I had a beautifu l baby girl but shortly after her birth my anorexia kicked in again, I went from 175 pounds to 110 in 8 months from starvation, I looked horrible I was not tone just skinny and sick looking.I managed to get back up to 125 and was happy with that weight(Wasnt toned but was happy). SOOO fast forward 4 years and my mom passes from lung cancer, I quit smoking and went from 125-150 pounds then BOOM got pregnant with my son before I could lose the weight and went from 150-200(Keep in mind i was 25 pounds heavier from not smoking) SOOO now that I am done having kids I am getting my body the way I WANT IT, TONE, Muscualr and healthy. Well thats my motivation, my kids and I want them to grow up eating healthy and respecting there bodies.

My parents are both overweight...but for me it is my family and staying active. I do not want to sit home doing nothing but computer and TV --- I want to play. Yes adults do play. I play soccer with guys 10 20 years younger than me. I run and teach people around me to enjoy life and have fun. Took a group to people to a 5K race...picked out because of the course, fairly flat, and the atmosphere --- major party time --in a good way. One woman in my group said she had so much fun she is going to keep doing this...entering 5Ks. She walked the whole course but had fun. I play sports in a variety of places and the one thing I emphasize as a coach and a player is --- have fun. I have laughed so hard on the soccer field until I had to sit down and when I told people what i saw we all laughed. So even at my age...playing and having fun are part of my motivation and the other part is my family. I want to be there for them...besides they are funny. I am too, if you saw me try my hand at zumba the other day you would have been laughing along with my wife. So healthy life is a requirement for me.

Revenge! No, wait, it's how much better I feel when I exercise and how much better my mental attitude is when I do. It just seems to clear my head, and take my stress levels down a notch or two. Speeding my weight loss is just a fringe benefit.

What makes me try harder is the little voice in my head that tells me every 5 minutes "stop it i can't go on", I always need to prove it wrong. :drinker:
