food labels vs. barcode scan

Hi, I was wondering if anyone else has come across a discrepancy with the nutritional information provided on the label and what comes up when you use the barcode scan feature with MFP? It's happened to me 3 different times (one with a HUGE difference in calories). I've checked to make sure serving sizes were the same, which they were. When this happens, should I go by the label or barcode scan?

I haven't yet, biggest 'issue' I personally have had was my yogurt registering under a different name(same calories correct) but scan a second time and right info came up.

Have you done that 'is this info correct' buttons? That can always help

I've had it happen - go by the label.

Yes, the label. The manufacturer could have changed something, but the packaging has the same bar code so stores don't have to reprogram their systems, but MFP has not been updated. If you see that happen, edit the nutritional info in MFP to make sure it is up to date with current labeling.

The database is full of incorrect entries input by your fellow MFPers. Always verify everything against the label, and never trust the database over a label.

Sometimes there are discrepancies because of data entry problems, but also, some foods - same manufacturer, same product, same package - vary regionally or are periodically reformulated. Always rely upon the product packaging.
