Exercise...morning motivated?

Years ago, I lost a considerable amount of weight. Fifty pounds to be exact and my body was smokin' due to clean eating and working out regularly. Eight years and two major surgeries later, I have gained most of the weight back and have decided to make the journey to get back on track.

Working out in the morning always seemed to work best for me, but this time around getting up in the morning seems to be a challenge. Any suggestions on getting "morning motivated."

I workout bright and early during the work week, 5 a.m. to be exact.

It's rough getting up somedays, but I make myself do it. I make sure I have everything ready the night before which makes it a lot easier.

The nice thing about it is you get it done and out of the way and you don't have to worry about it for the rest of the day. That really is my motivation.

I guess it depends on your situation. For me, I have to get up every morning to take my son to school. Some mornings I am not motivated at all. The only thing that pushes me is that I know I'll be PROUD and happy with myself after I do it! And I agree with BlueBombers, it is nice to get it out the way.. if you want to do more later then go for it.

It's tough the first few weeks, but I make sure every night I lay out my clothes and workout gear (heart rate monitor, shoes, etc) so that it's all waiting for me. Once I get through a warm up, I'm happy I'm getting it done before most people are even out of bed. Plus, remember how much more energy you'll have throughout the day along with a boosted metabolism. :)

I do what RavenNevermor does--lay out EVERYTHING the night before--including ponytail holders and headband, etc. I actually lay it out in the hallway so that I have to stumble out of the bedroom to put everything on. When the alarm sounds, I think to myself "everyone else is asleep, so I'll have accomplished more than them by 6:30 a.m." because, yeah--I'm a little competitive like that.

It helps to do an exercise that you actually enjoy, so that when the alarm sounds you have something that gets you out of bed.

This!! Have your clothes ready the night before. Water bottle ready to go in the fridge, so you can grab and go. Don't worry about what you look like b/c it's early morning and well you're working out. :)

When my alarm goes off, I just hop out of bed and shut my alarm off. Yes, some mornings are harder than others but just think - it'll be done with and your evening is free!!

    Good Luck and Have fun!!!

I also roll out of bed and immediately work out. This is the only thing that works for me. It is painful because I'm not a morning person but if I don't get the workout out of the way... I'll make up excuses, get busy and not do it. I need to do it before my toddlers get up or it won't be done so I just force myself to.

I set my TV to the workout I'm going to do so it's right there when I turn on the TV. My workout clothes are right next to my bed. The yoga mat are weights are underneath my bed. It's all right there so I do it right away.

I get up at 5 and I'm at the gym by 6. It's haaaaard to build the habit, but you can do it!

A couple things that work for me:

    1. Go to bed early. I'm in bed by 9, lights out by 10.
    2. Drink a big glass of water before bed. Trust me, you will NEED to get up at 5.
    3. Make friends at the gym or set up a pact with a friend. It helps to be accountable.
    4. Remind yourself how awesome it feels to be done with your workout for the day before other people are even out of bed.

    Good luck!

Going to be early (not that 9-10pm is actually early!) does it for me. You're up before the rest of the world, you aren't tired because you had the full allotment of sleep, and frankly there really isn't anything else interesting to do. :)

I find that it takes me two weeks to get back on track. Those first two weeks, I just have to bite the bullet and get my *kitten* out of bed. I set my alarm for 4:30 and get up and get a drink of water. I then get back into bed for 15 minutes looking at my phone, returning messages...this lets my mind wake up and my body rest just a teeny bit more. I then get up, get ready for the gym, pack my food for the day and I am out the door. It really helps me to have my gym bag packed with the next days clothes and all works stuff packed and by the door. That way, if I want to flake, my work clothes are already in my gym bag in the car so I just go with it.

I am still forcing myself to get up in the morning.

I have the debate, do I really need to get up this early, is the extra 40-60 snooze going to be worth it?

The snooze isn't worth it, so I get up and even if I late and can only get 15 minutes it, at least I got that 15 minutes.
