Question For The Ladies....

Girls...what exercises would you recommend to do when our "monthly gift" comes to town?

I know it's gross and very taboo to talk about, but cramps are kicking my *kitten* and I'm refusing to stay in bed, but I'm not sure which exercises are best to do while coping with cramps, PMS, and fatigue.

I'm thinking Yoga would be good, but would you suggest?

Talking about periods is taboo? What year is it? Haha!

Anyway...stick to your usual routine. Any exercise at all will help you feel better. Maybe add some extra stretching?

I find just going through my normal work outs make me feel better. Pop a Midol and go out and kill that work out!

I usually just keep up my normal workout and then cur up in a bath if I'm still sore.

This may not be true for everyone, but running and swimming have always been best for me.

UNLESS I'm feeling very lightheaded, then yoga all the way!

But if I'm having cramps, feeling bloated, anxious, like general crap, running and swimming actually make me feel BETTER. I get more energy and the warming of my muscles makes my cramps go away. Also, the exercise plus drinking lots of water helps with the bloating.

It seems awful at first but if you can get through it, it's magical.

    Just don't if you're lightheaded!!!
  • People who say "just do your normal workout" must not experience intense, painful cramps and bad PMS. For me, taking a nice walk or 20 mins of yoga or a 10 min cardio workout DVD is a God given miracle. Do what feels best for you :) The most important thing is for you to relax, eat mostly healthy foods and just moving anyway you can manage.
