I actually try to eat somewhat 'healthy....' whatever that is. But, I don't think there is any substitute for a hot dog.
With mustard and relish, and preferably onions.0 -
ahhh... slightly burnt hot dogs?0
-
Turkey sausage?0
-
LOL I like burnt hot dogs, but don't think that makes it healthier0

Nothing wrong with hot dogs. I but the BallPark Lean dogs.
Rigger0 -
I have to check on turkey sausage...I know maybe a better bread but the meat itself is the main issue, wieners are not healthy. Plus I like all fixings on them too.0
-
Haven't seen those before.... thanks navyrigger0

veggie dogs?
(just got done from eating a burnt hot dog btw )0 -
Or get 100% beef. that way its no a bunch of add ins.
Johnsonville turkey chedder sausages are so yummy!0 -
I only eat half a bun and slap 2 hot dogs on it ! LOL load it with sauerkraut and mustard MMMMmmmmmmmm good I eat Nathans. I just wish they would go easy on the salt !!! I slice them in half and change the water twice to get some of the salt out of it lol0

What's wrong with hot dogs? Why would they sabotage anything?
But there are uncured turkey dogs too.0 -

I tried these lean hot dogs once. They were AWFUL!
There is no sub. I am a hot dog fanatic!! :happy:0 -
I've been having hot dogs a lot lately - but today i have a special tea planned too - so needed some extra calories... but hotdogs are on the menu for lunch... so...
I am planning on using half the bun - chopping the dog in half & putting both halves on the 1/2bun - doubling the onion & halfing the cheese (extra onion is decadence & you only need a slice of cheese the whole way along the bun - so - half bun, half cheese right?) and half the tomato sauce... I have a feeling it will look HUGE and "how will that even fit in my mouth" so should satiate visually - but halving the bun, sauce and cheese (in my case) saves 151 calories! The onion is only an extras 18 calories to double it - so overall have saved 133 calories. Its also 18 grams of carbs less!0 -

They're high in calories and once you add all the fixings it puts me over, and sometimes just two hot dogs aren't enough0 -

Will look for these... although 100% beef sound expensive LOL.0 -
To superfox I'm a fanatic too. Love mine loaded with jalapenos and cheese sauce0

They aren't too bad (100% beef). Those are the only kind we eat, probably like 3-4$ a packet. Theres kosher ones too, those are a little more, but AMAZING0

Ha... they taste awesome when they're a little burnt.0 -
Hebrew National (I think) has a fat free hot dog that is okay. Look for "all-beef" and "fat free" for the lowest calories.0

Smart Dogs are really good - vegetarian, soy - high in protein, low in fat - healthier than the 'real thing' - no nitrates.........0

Yeah that's not to bad, but the packets I buy are .88 cents...I have to bargain shop for the whole family. But I will give them a try... trying to cut back on them anyways0 -
Hebrew national 94% hot dogs are 45 calories each.0

Applegate Farms Uncured Beef Hot Dogs. Only 70 calories per dog, very tasty, and 100% beef made from grass-fed cattle.
A bit pricier than 88 cents a pack, but well worth it IMHO.0 -

I'll second this. If you want a healthy hot dog, go for this.
If you want a tasty sausage free of the random bad stuff found in most hot dogs, go for a good fresh bratwurst or italian sausage and just consider it a cheat if you're worried about calories and fat.0 -
Morningstar farms has hot dogs. 50 or 60 cals each and damn good.0

I've had the Morningstar Farms hot dogs... eh, not too bad, BUT try their corn dogs. OMG... sooo good. 150 calories, kinda' high in sodium, but so are regular hot dogs.
:glasses:0 -
Hot dogs are yummy! Why rule out foods you like to eat?0
-
Turkey dogs and cheese wrapped in reduced fat crescent rolls, baked in the oven...with some ketchup mmmm0
-
thanks for the crack alert, I mean food addiction. will most definitely give those a try.
Morningstar farm also has a buffalo chicken burger. tastes similar to a spicy chicken patty from a fast food place. pretty good for 180 calories each patty.0 -
