Alcohol within 1200

I don't tend to drink, but I'm heading to a Burlesque night out tonight and I've given my self a limit of around 5 drinks. I know that it's best to get enough food when drinking but I've fitted it into my 1200 calories, meaning I'm snackless today (already logged it, feel free to check). Do you think this is the best idea? Or should I let myself go over a bit? I just hate when the numbers go red!!
I'm also bearing in mind I have a big family get together tomorrow!

You'll be fine; go over a bit if you want. Try not to get hung up on the numbers being red. You could eat at your maintenance level for today, and still be at a deficit for the week.
Long term, drinking regularly while on only 1200 calories is not going to be ideal, purely because it will be difficult to get the nutrients you need in the remaining calorie allowance. As a one off though, I wouldn't worry about it.
As a side note, I would look at whether 1200 calories is the right level for you to be eating if you are already a healthy weight or close to it. Large calorie deficits are more appropriate for people who are obese and have a lot of fat stored.
Enjoy your night, sounds fun!0 -
oh go have fun
drink yourself silly0 -
it's just one night, that won't kill your progress. Just have fun, drink your drinks, and just eat some more veggies and drink a bit more water tomorrow.0

I always drink Vodka and soda..ususally with lime. The drink is only about 50 cals so even if you have 5 it's only 250 cals...This works well for me.0

One night won't hurt, remember you don't/didn't gain the weight in one night so going over one night will not hurt your progress.0

You will be totally fine...wanted to add in....that on your profile it says you are good for a few days and then binge. At 1200 it just isn't enough. You are YOUNG and seem to be a healthy weight. You are binging because your body is craving fuel. Willpower is like a muscle....it weakens as it fatigues. I'd bump your calories up. You aren't going to gain on 15-1600....but it may even you out and remove the binges. I know from this experience! XO0

This! One night wont affect your progress but aggressive weight loss goals increase the chances of a binge. Most women I know eat between 1700 to 2100 calories for weight loss. And if you are close to maintain its another 400 ish calories. If you suppress calories for too long your resting metabolic rate will decrease due to lack of calories and you increase the chances of losing more muscle. Muscle is what makes a person lean..0 -
Thanks for the help folks! As for the calories I consume, I don't actually binge anymore! (I should update that) I seem to have just worked everything out but I am gradually increasing the amount I consume, I agree that 1500cal seems a good amount0

Congratulations that you're not binging anymore, that is a huge achievement.
If you give your body enough calories, and indulge in something every now and then, it stops most of the time, as you have seen0 -
being that you are 19. Good luck with the drinking part.....i advise not to drink until 21 years of age.0

Not every country has a drinking age of 21... She lives in the UK where the drinking age is 18.. totally fine and legal for her to go out!0 -

19 is a legal drinking age in Scotland.
The important safety part of a night out drinking is to do it safely, ie watch your drinks, don't drive drunk, and don't get too intoxicated you can get in a dangerous situation that you cant get out of, or just get too intoxicated you make a fool of yourself.
I would also suggest alternating drinks with water. I would also suggest eat your 1200 calories and drink over that. You don't want an empty stomach and one night of drinking should not affect your weight loss.
(Glad you are deciding to eat more then 1200 calories. Check your BMR and TDEE)0
