I'm a student with PCOS and Hypothyrodism

Hello,

I am 21 years old and was diagnosed with PCOS and Hypothyroidism about six months ago. I am now on levothyroxine and feel a lot better in terms of energy.

Because of my PCOS I am nervous of sugar unless fruit ect but I have a massive sweet tooth and therefore have to be careful.

I was just wondering if anyone around my age has had success with weight loss when battling these conditions?

I tend to feel quite low about it and think that I am never going to be able to lose weight but it must be possible.

Has anyone got any tips, or meal plans that have worked for them?

I would really appreciate any info . Thanks xx

    Hey Lilly123ish!

I am 29 years old and was diagnosed with PCOS when I was about 15. I tried every diet known to man until I was 24 and I decided to have weight-loss surgery. I went with the lap-band. A lot of people think that weight loss surgery is a miracle thing. and that it is just being lazy. That fact is that I still have to make the right decsions on my food choices. It was the best thing I could have done for myself. I started out at 315 pounds and The lowest I got to was 191. so about 124 pounds lost with a couple years. The doctors said that with my weight and my PCOS that I had a 50/50 chance of having children. Well after losing that 124 pounds, my husband and I started trying and now we have a beautiful little girl that is 16 months old. So now I am back on my weightloss journey. So please dont let PCOS define your life. I know the struggles of having a sweet tooth, its horrible. At one point candy was all I could think about. lo. My best tip that I have found out that works for me is low carb. I love fruit but tend to steer away from it because of the carbs, but stick with berries, they are lower on the carb scale. I am here if you need a friend to chat with. There is a lot of us battling with PCOS, so never feel alone! We are here for ya!
