How do I count THIS????

So, how to you suppose I track the calories burned while walking around the neighborhood while it was about 11 degrees with a wind chill of below zero trying to sell Girl Scout cookies today? I guess I shouldn't feel too bad that I went 92 calories over my limit because I forgot to add my snacks and then ate too much after dinner......lol :ohwell:

I personally wouldn't count it, but then again I don't count anything as exercise unless my heart rate is at least 135 bpm for art least 10 minutes

You get double the exercise calories with a windchill below zero, of course!! :)

You should never feel bad going 92 calories over. That's within a margin of error anyway.

You get bonus points for insanity. Only crazy people would sell cookies in those conditions.

Seriously, though. How long were you out there? I walked my dogs for 30 minutes this evening (70 degrees above zero, no wind chill, Southern California) and burned 97 calories. I think you're safe if you only went 92 over.

Not that it helps after the fact but maybe use a tracker like MapMyWalk in future?

It gives you distance & speed. Otherwise equate 1mile to about 100 calories.

I read somewhere the cold doesn't significantly up your calories burned unless your body is physically shivering to burn them. Although maybe the extra weight of the clothing acts like those weighted vests lol. Jk jk
  • I really didn't plan to count it. We were walking really slow because my daughter just got a boot off her foot from a high ankle sprain. The forms had to be turned in that day and we hadn't reached our goal yet, so we had to get out there and sell. Now the REAL problem will be to not EAT all the cookies when they are piled up in my living room...all 165 boxes!
