What grains and legumes are considered healthy

I heard of gluten being harmful to health, but what about other grains? Rice is contaminated with arsenic and other grains like quinoa supposedly contain a lot of phytic acid (blocks absorption of nutrients). Beans/legumes also contain this anti-nutrient. As a vegetarian, I eat a lot of these and feel like there really is nothing (healthy) left to eat. What do you guys think?

I think you might be overthinking it. What is "healthy" depends on who you ask, and if you analyze any food long enough, you can make a case that it's unhealthy in some aspects or when overconsumed.0

What's not healthy is being this freaked out by food0

I agree with parkscs...over-consumption is unhealthy. Depending how you want to eat basically determines is something is unhealthy for you when it comes to legumes and grains. For instance, grains and legumes with gluten cause major inflammation in my abdomen so they are unhealthy for me. But I can still consume grains such as brown rice which is gluten free.0

I've got to go with Shred on this one. Speaking in totalities sets you up for failure. For instance, ALL rice is not laden in arsenic. Put the internet Google searches aside and relax a bit. It's not that difficult.0 -
Depends on your goals. If your goal is orthorexia, then probably none of them would be considered healthy.0

Gluten is a natural protein found in wheat, and unless you have an intolerance to it, it is not at all harmful.0

Whole grains and legumes are both nutritious and can absolutely be included as part of a nutritious diet. As long as you're eating a wide variety of foods and not just whole grains and legumes (that would be rather boring), you shouldn't be too concerned.0
