finished P90X and my story

My story doesn't begin 90 days ago but It started in October of 2012 when I reached my heaviest I have ever been it was 249 lbs. After seeing the infomercial for Insanity and say that looks like something I could do and maybe it will be what it takes me to get moving. Well it did until I suffered a injure to my lower back and was not able to finish. It took a couple months before I could get back to exercise and I was signed up to do a 5k come April 2013. I had been doing some treadmill stuff along with stretching and psychical therapy. I managed to drop to 225 lbs and run that 5k. You think well great I am doing it and getting healthy but I was still drinking and using substances. Which I figure I could control. Well after I ran the 5k I just quite doing anything. Well the drinking and substance abuse got worse and worse as I was self medicating my depression. Well I gained all the weight I had lost and was having back issue again which kind of come and go. It wasn't till July of 2013 that my depression had gotten extremely bad to the point I was harming myself and to the point of doing the worst. So I found myself in the emergency room at the hospital. I then was put into a intense 10 day program which really saved my life. Finally feeling that my depression was somewhat under control it was time to get heathy. So not being nearly able to button 40 size jeans and not being able to tie my shoe with out holding my breath I knew it was time. I started to eat better and decide to try P90X once again. That is right I had tried it twice before and failed each time. I didn't really take good before pic or do any measuring because I figure it wasn't going to matter cause most likely I would not finish it. Well a little bit more determined I was going to start and do my best. With the support of my wife and making sure I had time to do my workouts. I made it a priority to do them. Now I was getting a little bit more excited. As the weeks past the weight just started coming off. It didn't hurt that i was eating really healthy. I also was using shakeology for the first month and it returned my digestive system back to normal and among other things. When I hit the half way point is when I knew that I was going to finish P90X and bring it the best I could. Still my supportive wife helped and along with my supportive coach and my friends on My fitness pal gave me the encouragement and really help to keep me focused. I was happy to see the result I was seeing and also was happy for the first time in a long time. Now that I am finished it is not over and I will continue to do new programs and be healthy and happy. I have failed and reach bottom to find myself but my new lifestyle has brought life back to me. It hasn't been an easy road and I have failed many times. The main thing is that I kept trying and trying and trying until it finally clicked and now I am winning! I also like to say that I have been sober and clean for 6 months and at a weight of 228lbs. I now comfortable fit in a 38in pant and have to use a belt for them.

Great post! You remind me of myself. I got up to 250 lbs in 2010 and I remember how awful I felt physically and mentally. Depression is the worst. It zaps your motivation and keeps you in a bad place. Exercising and keeping a food diary have literally saved my life. I'm 222 lbs now and working towards 200 lbs by this summer.0
