I have been overweight for 11 years like seriously in the obese range. At my heaviest I was 240lbs and im 5ft10. After two children and my husband getting out of the military i decided to make the change for me. Plus i was sick of hearing friends and family say "you not fat, your just tall"- sounds like a the twisted version of the truth.
Fast forward to March 2012 i joined a facebook group for weightloss and activated my MFP account. I tracked every calorie i ate and i did an hour of zumba 5 nights a week. I lost a grand total of 12 lbs in a two month period. NO KIDDING. I got hard on myself because as you know, when your starting out the number on the scale is all you care about. Anything to get that number to go down.
I did a lot of research and reading on dieting, calorie counting, eating back work out calories ect and decided to get back to it in june 2012. I ate a loaded protein breakfast, carrots for snack, salad with chicken or fish for lunch and drank a protein shake for dinner, i would not eat a thing after 5pm until 9 am the next morning for breakfast. Basically in a form Intermittent Fasting. I lost 14lbs in my first month. I also ran 3 miles (interval) twice a week at the gym.
I stopped counting calories in October. I had gone from 240lbs to 206. I don't really feel like i actually shrunk much considering the weight i had lost, so then of course i started thinking about muscle vs fat and maybe its muscle that i had lost.
Can you see i tend to over analyze everything.
Fast forward through 2013- i got down to my lowest weight of 190 in October of 2013. We just bought a house and with the holidays i have managed to gain back 7lbs.
My start weight is 197- Im finally to the point that i want to get the weight gone and permanently. I also don't want to take a year to do it. My goal weight is 160lbs. My husband and i are renewing our vows in April and i would really like to feel confident standing in front of both of our families. ( im not asking to lost 37 lbs by then)
I need motivation so Add me as a friend- I also need to figure out the best exercise for my body.....I have several old injuries that can be a nuisance when it comes to working out. I also know my muscles are in serious atrophy, because when i attempt something basic such as lunges, my quadriceps will ache for a week and i look funny walking around.
I appreciate any and all help and advice. I have made the commitment to myself and this time, im doing it with out the support of a friend or family member that has the same goals, because when they give up, i do too.

Sounds like you've done lots of research and are ready to make it happen. I've used MFP before and got down to my goal weight. But then got a back injury so I stopped running and then just got lazy. Of course, all of the beer I was taking in doesn't help either! If you stick to it and be honest about what you've eaten it works! I'm also 5ft 10in with an athletic build. I'm 184 right now. I'd like to get to 165. I still love my beer but I make sure to get a nice long walk in if I know I'm going to have a couple. Good luck to you and I'll add you as a friend so we can keep up with each other. Cheers!0

You can add me as a friend.. I am 5'8, 190 lbs, and would also like to get to 160lbs. I have also heard the saying "your just tall, you carry it well" many times! I'm trying MFP again, but added friends this time, and it really does help. We can do it : )0
