I was just told about this site today after I told a friend I was going to change the way I eat. This is my problem. I have 100 lbs to lose. Are there others here who also have that much to lose? Second problem, I'm on dialysis so I have to watch my potassium and phosphate so some things I really have to limit. I do dialysis 6 days a week so my diet is a little more lenient but I still can have very little potatoes, no chocolate, 1 serving of dairy dly,no tomatoes, or very seldom, etc. Are there others here with challenges like these?
From what I have seen so far I can't say enough good about the site. Still learning it though.

Just bumping this for you.
I suggest you bump the thread again Monday morning when there's higher traffic around here, and you're more likely to find people with similar issues.0 -

I'm diabetic and have high blood pressure so I watch my sugar and sodium intake
I was diagnosed Dec 2 2013
that day I came online to my MFP account that I had abandoned and started logging again
and exercising 30 minutes a day
IN that time I have gone from having dangerously high blood pressure
to having normal to the high end of normal (I test that at home)
I also feel less of the typical diabetic symptoms
things like afternoon exhaustion
extreme thirst
frequent urination
I told my doctor would rather diet control my issues than go on meds she gave me 2 months to get it under control and keep it that way
I try to keep my salt intake as close to 1500mg as I can as for sugar I just go by whatever MFP gives me and keep it under that
MFP count fruit and vegetables sugars too
so I have not been eating much sugar at all
make sure that whatever you are doing you have your doctor help you set up something you can do and follow it
you can friend me if you like0 -
Hey there
I have to say that I don't have experience with your dietary and dialysis issues, but I have physical limitations, chronic pain and I fatigue much faster than the average person (these are not due to my weight, they were with me before the gain and they will be with me after I lose the weight). I do watch my sodium preemptively but that's currently the only dietary limitation I face other than some oddball allergies that have thankfully not yet proven to be life-threatening.
I'm here to lose 160+ pounds. I've lost 100-ish of those pounds in the last two-plus years. I'm kind of stuck in a rut so I've been maintaining after a slight gain. Because I don't have the physical abilities of most finding exercises I can do is harder than most but I've been giving it my all to do what I can. Sometimes the hardest part is getting over the mental block in my head that says my situation is hard. I've also found a few people here in my situation and that does make it easier. Sometimes I get lucky and stumble upon their posts here in the community and sometimes I find them by using the search feature ( http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums?show=search ) putting in terms that relate to my situation.
I hope you find what you're looking for and I wish you all the best in your weight loss!
