Hi I was wondering if anyone could answer a few questions as I'm starting to get annoyed haha! I've been going to the gym for 4 weeks now 3-4 days a week and following a programme that one of the instructors gave me for body shaping, I also do a lot of walking etc through the week I normally walk around 4 miles + a day and that burns off 100 calories per mile so
I'm quiet active and sometimes I burn off around 700 a day when I've included gym exercise! But I'm not seeing any results and I'm eating pretty healthy and I don't eat after 7pm, but I still have a belly and I've not lost any weight or inches! Can't anyone please give some advice on what I maybe doing wrong!! I'm hoping to lose a stone and 3-4 inches off my belly, but after 4 weeks is thought I'd lose something! Just feel like the past 4 weeks has been a waste of time!

What is your calorie intake like? You may be consuming too many calories (which leads to weight gain) or may be in maintenance but saying you exercise that much (which also may be out of range possibly) I predict it will be with you eating more than you think you are.0

Well, you mention everything except how much you're eating. With your diary closed it's tough to give any specific advice. Make sure you're logging your food accurately (a food scale is best) and staying within your calorie allotment. Eating healthy, eating after 7, won't make a difference if you're eating more calories than your body uses in a day.0

ETA: You may be eating too much or too little. You can't out-exercise a bad diet and you may be eating back too many exercise calories (MFP's calories burned are overestimated, in general) or not enough (your net calories may be under 1200). Also, how much sodium are you taking in?0 -

I made a similar mistake myself. I was eating healthy but my portions were way too big and although I was exercising and gaining some strength and reshaping a bit I was not losing any weight. Weigh/ measure your portions and log them to see if you may be overestimating your intake.0

My diary hasn't been that accurate over the weekend as i have been in my bed most of the weekend due to illness and I only started back logging my foods a week ago!0

If that's your total intake everyday, or close to that, then there's one of your problems. You make your diary public by going into settings and changing your diary settings.
You more than likely are eating way too little. Also, check your sodium intake. Overconsumption of sodium with under-consumption of water can lead to bloating, which hides weight loss. So you made need to not only up your food intake, but also your water consumption.0 -

Sounds like you are eating far too few calories. It may seem like fewer calories means more weight-loss, but there comes a point where too few calories actually hinders your progress.
What does MFP recommend you should be eating? You really should shoot for that number, which is based on your age, activity level, starting weight, etc. I would also recommend trying to eat back at least some of your exercise calories, especially when you're burning 700+ a day.0 -

Eat in the evening
My personal experience with lack of food was hair loss which was awful and came back after I fixed my diet in less than a month. It WILL catch up with you, eat.0 -
I agree that you are probably eating too few calories. That can create serious issues with your health and fitness. Your body needs fuel! But it needs the right fuel.

From original post it seems that not tracking your food acuratly is your #1 problem. If you were eat that little cals you would be losing weight. I'm confued as to why people are saying by eating too little you are hindering weight loss? Calculate what your body needs to maintain weight, eat less, and you will lose weight. It really is that simple. But you need to weigh everything you eat to make sure you are actualy eating how much you think. You would be amazed at what being a little off can add up to.......
Second please don't worry about meal times. If you eat after 7 you will not turn into a gremlen or gain fat. I usually eat a snack around 9/9:30 before bed.0 -
I do suffer from ibs and bloating, it sometimes stops me from going to the gym as it's to painful but I can't see why that would interfere with weigh loss etc! I had dinner like two hours ago and still feeling very bloated, I take peppermint tablets for it but I don't get it all the time but probably 4 days a week. I did think going to a gym changing my eating habits and dieting would help but it's really not made any difference!0

I had symptoms like these before I realized I had issues with gluten intolerance. Could this be an issue?0 -

All of those things are great for being healthier, but for weight loss you have to get your calories in check. If you don't have one, you need to eat a food scale. And weigh EVERY THING to get an accurate account of what you're eating. I even weigh and check pre-packaged things because sometimes it will say 6 of something is a serving and really, those 6 things are actually 1.5 or 2 servings when checked by weight. And when you figure this out, you can either weigh everything or adjust your cals overall to compensate. I don't believe in the whole starvation mode thing, but I do believe your body does go into a holding pattern when you eat too low. But I don't really think that is the issue. I really think you need to be weighing your food. Another issue it could possibly be is that if this is a fairly new thing for you to be working out this way, many times your body will bloat up and retain water because the muscle is using that water for repair. Give it some time and see if this improves while watching the calories.0
